Lovely berry and cherry character with plenty of plums and lightly toasted oak. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Very fresh and exciting. Extremeley fine, long tannins. Goes on for minutes. This is always a top-notch single-vineyard wine. Best after 2005.

The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto, the house’s most important selection, is an impeccable blend of tradition and innovation in its deep garnet-ruby color, powerful aromas of red currant and wild cherry fruit, smoked and hung meat, and tar, its deep and seamless flow of flavors, and its rich, concentrated texture. Drink: 2005–2020.
