There’s been a surge in popularity for wines from the southern parts of Italy recently, and it’s easy to see why — lush and soft, but robust and full-flavored, these wines make an excellent stepping stone from California to Italy. The Monaci Salice is bright on the palate, with tart cranberry flavors initially, leading to the darker berry and spice flavors on the midpalate and finish. Terrific alternative to your favorite Cabernet or Shiraz — try it with anything grilled or roasted, or with the winery’s preferred pairing: fire-roasted pizza.
