On the sweet side, but so nicely acidified and delicious in fruit that you hardly notice the sugar, which just gives the wine a round softness. Beautiful hazelnut, peaches-and-cream and vanilla flavors, with a tough of raspberry zest.

A nice, everyday bubbly that offers elegance at an affordable price. Chardonnay contributes crisp flavors of limes, while Pinot Noir brings deeper flavors of cherries. A lovely wine that grows in the glass.

Chandon’s basic brut is balanced and harmonious, with flavors of citrus, pear, raspberry and vanilla, and an engaging edge of dough and smoky oak. Basically dry, but with a sweetly ripe dosage that makes it round and creamy. Best of all, it avoids sharpness, and is smooth.

This medium-to-full-bodied sparkler has a mouthfeel that is at once gravelly and richly smooth — go figure. Granny Smith apples and granite-slate aromas play on the nose; on the palate, the same Granny Smith notes are swathed in dusty-earthy flavors. Though the back palate shows a little toast and cream, the wine’s finish is more zippy, tangy citrus than oaky.

Very pale straw with a metallic cast. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Apples, quince, bread. Hints of toasty yeast on the nose. Delicious fruity attractive palate makes for an easy drinking style. Generous and rounded without being a heavyweight.

Lots to like in this dryish to slightly sweet brut. It has polished lime, strawberry, vanilla and yeasty flavors. The all-important texture of the bubbles is a little rough and scoury.

Good intensity, with a solid center of ripe pear, apple, spice and a hint of ginger and lemon twist. It leaves you hoping for another sip as it gains complexity and length. Drink now.
