Refined, with a sweet, smoky undercurrent to the flavors of glazed pear, candied lemon zest and golden raisin, with a hint of marzipan. Racy acidity frames — but doesn’t dominate — the wine, with a spicy note lingering on the finish. Best from 2012 through 2016. 12,000 cases imported.

This piquant bubbly hits the mark. Attractive aromas of pear, honey and mustard seed lead into a delicious mouthful of pear and apple fruit. It’s exciting and pure, with a layered, complex finish that’s slightly grassy and svelte. This is nonvintage Champagne close to its finest.

Fairly pale color. Complex, soil-inflected, smoky nose combines pineapple, peach, apricot, rose petal, cinnamon and mace; reminded me of Condrieu. Fresh and ripe in the mouth, with impressively intense flavors of fruits and spices. Finishes strong and spicy, with a late note of pink peppercorn.

Fresh and crisp, this is bright with acidity as well as warmer fruitiness. It brings out the dry Laurent-Perrier style, balanced by soft creamed apples and fragrant acidity. Light and fruity at the end, it is ready to drink.

Almost dry, with the freshest of apple and grapefruit characters, a lively layer of mineral and lime, and a delicate character. This is a crisply delicious, aperitif style of Champagne.

Balance and elegance are the hallmarks of this lively, rich-tasting Champagne. Crisp acidity supports the light, bright fruit flavors and marries with nice doughy, spicy notes on the finish. Could be aged through 1996.

Intense, even veering toward earthiness, yet there’s also comcentrated notes of vanilla pastry and berries. It’s complex and appeals more to the intellect, with a sense of power and a lingering aftertaste. Try with food. Drink now.

Lovely. Candied citrus, ginger and mineral aromas and flavors integrate well with the lightweight, elegant frame. Beautifully displayed, from start to the long finish. Drink now.

A fine bead in the glass, it shows a bit more warm, round fruit than in previous bottling, leading into a slightly bitter finish of citrus rind, lime zest and wet stone.

A good value in Champagne. Laurent-Perrier’s basic cuvee boasts scents of ginger, soy and mixed citrus fruits. It’s medium in body and a little soft on the finish, but carries a complex flavor melange of spice, citrus, yeast and minerals.

Fresh fruit aromas with lively bubbles, complex flavors; citrus and white fruit followed by an elegant, crisp finish.

A light-weight, delicate bubbly, with floral and apple notes married to a lithe and lively profile. It has moderate length. Ideal as an aperitif. Drink now.

Pale bright golden appearance. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Ripe citrus, peach. Hints of toasty yeast on the nose with mild nutty notes. Bright, full-flavored and endearingly fruity with greate persistence. Lively fresh mouthfeel has a creamy note through the finish.

Lush and creamy, this round Champagne will please many with its dough, honey and apple notes. Firms up on the finish. Drink now.

This bright and flavorful brut combines vibrant apple and mellow vanilla notes on a firm texture of acidity and fine bubbles. The tangy fruit character lingers nicely on the finish. Drink now through 2001.

A lean, bracing version, with lemon, grapefruit and yeast notes. This is dry, but stingy in flavor and richness, with a mineral finish. Best from 2010 through 2013.

This honey- and apple-inflected sparkler is medium-bodied, with richness midpalate. On the soft side, with a straightforward appeal. Drink now.

The spicy cologne of sapwood and the sweetness of caramel show the oak influence in the Chardonnay-dominated wine. It’s soft and buttery-rich, for seared salmon.

Mature mushroom and toast nose. Brisk mouthfeel. Flavors are mostly citrusy, but a definite cherry note slips in. Full, with decent length; fruity in a dry, reserved way.

Pale straw hue. Doughy, yeasty aromas follow through nicely on a medium-bodied palate with white citrus and apple flavors that finish cleanly.

This starts out rich and open-knit before turning sharp with straightforward apple and citrus flavors. Decent length though, so fans may want to give it some time in the bottle. Drink now through 2007.

Has a lovely aroma of vanilla, citrus and spice, with nuances of tropical fruit. The flavors, echoing with aromas, are rich, lovely, very flavorful and long. It is delicious and a superb NV Champagne.

Potentially long lived, will become very elegant.

Dave Cleveland: September 30, 1997

Small and frequently overshadowed in the American market, Laurent-Perrier enjoys a wide appreciation internationally for their delicately framed, elegant Champagne. The NV Brut is near ethereal, with very fine bubbles and subtle citrus and marzipan flavors that turn creamy toward the finish. Makes a perfect kickoff for any holiday entertaining, or serve well-chilled with cold fish and seafood.
