Volnay has been prized for its finesse and bouquet. In medieval times, it is claimed that Louis XIV demanded the entire harvest of 1477 for the royal court. This wine has a light garnet color with delicate aromas of violets and ripe raspberries. The flavors are a combination of cherries, raspberries and spice, each one expressed in delicate layers. It would pair beautifully with duck confit and sweet potatoes layered with apples and cinnamon.
