Smooth and creamy, the added pinot noir shows through with a hint of red/black fruit; the toast and yeast in the background complement the fruit for a lovely finish; this is a new blend of White Star and just being released.

92 pts. : December 15, 2012

The minerally undertow imparts a subtle, smoky note that blends with flavors of dried pineapple, biscuit, salted almond and white peach. A balanced version, with a fine bead and well-honed acidity. Drink now through 2018.

91 pts.: Oct 31, 2015

Toasted hazelnut and smoke notes are rich and focused in this harmonious version, layered with flavors of pastry, passion fruit pâte de fruit and candied ginger. Fine and creamy, with a mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2020.

91 pts.: November 15, 2014

Hints of roasted walnut and toasted brioche are richly smoky and underscored by flavors of raspberry, lemon confit and green pear in this open-knit Champagne, framed by vivid acidity and a lively bead. Drink now through 2019.

91 pts. : November 30, 2011

Well-balanced, exhibiting flavors of light toast, Gala apple, honey and ginger, with smoke and mineral notes underscoring hints of tropical pineapple and tangerine fruit. There’s lovely texture, with a firm backbone of juicy acidity. Drink now through 2018.

91 pts. : December 15, 2013

Lemon curd and glazed apricot notes mix with hints of biscuit, black raspberry and smoky mineral in this lightly creamy version, offering a lively bead and well-cut acidity. Drink now through 2018.

90 pts.: December 1, 2012

Tart red-fruit scents give this a vinous profile, fragrant with cranberry, root vegetables and ginger. It finishes clean, with cool limestone minerality. Cellar this for a year to let the flavors develop further.

90 pts. : ,

Honeyed, floral, vanilla and toast aromas. Silky palate of lemon and toasted oak melded with sweet, creamy vanilla. Light, sweet, citrus notes carry the finish.

89 pts. : June, 2008

Creamy, almost butterscotch aromas are followed by a soft palate, but one where the flavors are fruit-driven, green plums and pears dominating. With some richness, it is more “wine” in character than sparkling wine. At the end, vanilla, toast and more fruit come through.

88 pts.: 12/1/2012

A lively mousse leads to a wine that is now drier than in the past; it’s crisp and apple-juice fresh. This is tight, bright and fruity, with a refreshing, citrusy finish.

Impérial, the best-selling Champagne brand in the world, is now the nonvintage Moët brand in the United States, replacing White Star. However, the American blend is sweeter than Impérial elsewhere, and similar to White Star, emphasizing fruitiness, ripe pear and creamy apple flavors and a soft, easy finish.

88 pts. : October 15, 2001

Rich and a touch sweet, exuding citrus and honey flavors on an easygoing frame. Medium-bodied, with moderate intensity, it picks up a mushroom note on the finish. Drink now.

88 pts. : November 15, 2008

A fruity style, with berry, candied citrus and floral aromas and flavors. This seems a touch sweeter than its peers, but that may be the fruit. Has a delicate profile.

87 pts. : December 15, 2006

Round and fruity, like a good Mâcon Chardonnay. Shows apple and berry flavors in a soft yet balanced frame. Drink now.

87 pts. : December 15, 2006

A new blend of this best-selling Champagne is soft, creamy and openly fruity. There is acidity, but it is kept in place by the intensity of sweet fruit, which trails off to a soft, gentle finish.

86 pts. : December 15, 2001

A soft, floral nose opens this mid-weight wine. the apple-pear aromas and flavors are ripe and slightly sweet, but a slightly dry, chalky note keeps it from becoming cloying, and it’s just a shade sweeter that the Brut Imperial. The chalk and apple notes play out on the moderately long finish.

86 pts. : November 30, 2005

Rich and off-dry, this is pleasant, yet with straightforward citrus and ginger notes. It’s balanced with modest length. Drink now.

…pale yellow, has an attractive, fresh aroma of floral-toned citrus and vanilla. The flavors, echoing the aromas, are creamy, soft and velvety, with a touch of sweetness, very fresh and tasty-charming.

Delicate yellow, with a floral character and good persistence of bubbles; fruity, yeasty nose (Pinot Meunier); round, full and fruity with a hint of grapefruit. Reminiscent of hawthorne and honey.
