Critical Acclaim

VN89 Vinous Sep 2015

"The 2013 Chianti Classico Brolio is a very pretty, fruit-driven wine with plenty of near and medium term appeal. The flavors are bold and punchy in this succulent, fruit-driven Chianti. Drink the 2013 over the next few years, while the fruit retains its juiciness. The inclusion of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon helps give the wine its soft, generous contours. All the elements are very nicely balanced throughout." (89 pts.)

WS86 Wine & Spirits April 1, 2016

"Fifteen percent merlot adds plummy notes to this wine’s black cherry flavors, accented by hints of licorice and clove from nine months in barrels." (86 pts.)

SP87 Wine Spectator Mar 31, 2016

"A lean, chewy style, offering black cherry and black currant fruit, accented by tobacco, spice and earth notes. Austere on its own, but food will help. Best from 2017 through 2022. 50,000 cases made." (87 pts.)

RP91 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 29th Oct 2015

"Here is Barone Ricasoli’s bread and butter wine. Some 600,000 bottles of the 2013 Chianti Classico Brolio were made and all the fruit that goes into this wine is estate-grown. This is a powerhouse wine in terms of production numbers and the 2013 vintage is an especially delicious one. I highly recommend this excellent value wine. The wine shows crunchy tannins and youthful fruit nuances with bright cherry and blackberry. The mouthfeel is generous and fresh." (91 pts.)

There are few regions as picturesque as Italy's Tuscany. And there are few regions that produce finer wines, either. Tuscany is home to legendary wine regions Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti, among others, where the red wine grape Sangiovese is king. It's also home to "Super Tuscans," a category of Tuscan wines that don't officially fall within the Italian wine classification system.

Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.

Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
