Critical Acclaim

RP92 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2014

"The 2012 Proprietary Red Blend O.P.C. (Ol’ Pa’s Cuvée) is an intriguing blend of 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 22% Merlot and 16% Malbec. Obviously, Papa Buoncristiani had a very good palate. Dense ruby/purple-hued with more meat, underbrush and barbecue notes than its siblings, it is fleshy and succulent with sweet tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel. This successful blend can be drunk now and over the next 8–10 years." (92 pts.)

VN90 Vinous Aug 2015

"The 2012 Proprietary Red Wine O.P.C., a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, opens with a rush of voluptuous dark fruit. Leather, spice, mint and tobacco develop in the glass, but the O.P.C. is above all else a wine of texture and raciness. The generous, racy finish rounds things out in style." (90 pts.)

SP88 Wine Spectator Oct 31, 2015

"Dry and savory, with a dusty, meaty edge to the cedary oak and dried berry flavors. Ends with raw, gripping tannins and a savory, sage-laced finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Malbec. Drink now through 2024. 2,860 cases made." (88 pts.)

California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
