"The 2015 Barolo Prapò is another stellar wine in this range. Iron, smoke, blood orange and a host of mineral/feral notes give the Prapò striking complexity to play off the wine’s intense, muscular tannins. Deceptively medium in body, the Prapò packs a serious punch. More than anything else, the Prapò has that distinctive Serralunga interplay of aromatic intensity, fruit depth and structural underpinning that make the best wines from the village so compelling." Piedmont, a wine region on the edge of the Italian Alps in northwest Italy, produces two of Italy's most famous red wines, Barolo and Barbaresco. Both of these wines are made from the Nebbiolo grape, though there are other notable grapes used in the region such as Barbera, Dolcetto, and Moscato and Arneis on the white wine side. Vermouth also hails from Piedmont.
Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.
Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
