Critical Acclaim

SP95 Wine Spectator Jul 31, 2017

"This has the fleshy, pure and driven vintage profile of cassis and raspberry running right down the middle, with an amped-up finish of roasted apple wood, graphite and ganache notes providing a thumping bass line. Needs a little more time to knit fully, but that won’t be a problem. Best from 2020 through 2040. 100 cases imported." (95 pts.)

VN93+ Vinous Mar 2017

"Brilliant ruby. Sexy, intensely perfumed raspberry, boysenberry and rose pastille scents are complemented by hints of cola, rhubarb and peppery spices. Palate-staining red and blue fruit flavors show impressive power as well as vivacity thanks to a spine of juicy acidity. The floral quality comes back emphatically on a very long, sappy finish shaped by smooth tannins. This wine’s urgency and power are superb, as is its balance." (93–95 pts.)

RP94+ Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 28th Oct 2016

"The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Val de Dieu is another serious, concentrated and incredibly layered wine from this rock star estate. Made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, aged mostly in demi-muids, it has a kiss of toasty oak as well as notes of crème de cassis, toasted spiced, candied cherries and potpourri. This full-bodied, pure, elegant effort packs a ton of fruit, but like all of the wines here, is never over the top, stays balanced and graceful." (94–96 pts.)

Rhone

France's picturesque Rhone Valley produces wines just as beautiful as its landscapes. Located in Southern France, the Rhone is divided into two distinct sub-regions, the Northern Rhone and Southern Rhone. In the Northern Rhone, you'll find red wines produced predominantly with the Syrah grape, which oftentimes take a few years to mature before reaching their peak. Meanwhile, there are a wide array of red grapes used to produce wines in the Southern Rhone, including Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre (which together produce a blend known as GSM). The most famous red wine coming out of the Southern Rhone is the red blend, Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.
