Critical Acclaim

SP92 Wine Spectator Oct 15, 2016

"Broad and spicy, with pepper and clove overtones to the rich blueberry and currant fruit, coming together harmoniously against softly nubby tannins on the expressive finish. Drink now through 2022. 10,500 cases made." (92 pts.)

RP91 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 29th Jun 2016

"An impressive wine is the 2013 Merlot Canoe Ridge Estate. There’s 5% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend and it spent 16 months in 59% new French and American oak. Possessing first-rate aromatics of plums, currants, licorice and damp earth, this medium to full-bodied, supple, charming Merlot has outstanding purity and surprising mid-palate density. It’s a sexy wine to drink over the coming 4–5 years." (91 pts.)

VN88 Vinous Nov 2016

"Bright, moderately saturated red. Musky reduction to the aromas of cherry, raspberry and mocha, along with a distinctly herbaceous menthol element and strong oakiness. Smooth, plush and broad, in a ripe, slightly warm style, with good sweetness and just enough acidity for balance. Showed a mounting herbal element with aeration, but dusty tannins will not get in the way of enjoying this wine early. Clearly a Merlot from a warm season, with evidence of quick but uneven ripening." (88 pts.)

WE88 Wine Enthusiast 12/31/2016

"The aromas of coffee, red currant and red plum are bright and effusive, with tar and cough medicine notes in the background. The cherry flavors are plush and full, with coffee notes lingering on the finish." (88 pts.)

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
