Critical Acclaim

RP93 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 25th Jun 2014

"The 2011 Single Vineyard Limavida is produced with the fruit from a 2.3-hectare, un-grafted, dry-farmed, old vineyard from Maule planted back in 1945 with mixed varieties, mainly Malbec (around 80%) and other red grapes, mainly Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon on granitic soils. It displays a bright ruby color with strong aromas of flowers (the telltale violets that the best Malbec really masters) and notes of aniseed, red fruit, licorice, smoked hints and the tension and acidity from the old vines with fine-grained tannins. With time in the glass, it develops a beautiful orange peel note that makes it appealing and fresh. A serious red from Maule. Delicious! Drink now–2019." (93 pts.)

VN92 Vinous Jun 2015

"Deep ruby. Complex, expansive scents of ripe cherry and blackberry, with mineral and floral elements adding liveliness. Concentrated and juicy on the palate, offering sweet black raspberry and cherry compote flavors that stretch out and pick up smokiness with air. Delivers a compelling blend of power and elegance and finishes sweet and gently tannic, leaving a dark berry note behind." (92 pts.)

SP88 Wine Spectator Web only – 2014

"Supple, with pomegranate and dried berry flavors supported by firm acidity. The finish lingers with notes of milk chocolate. Drink now. 600 cases made." (88 pts.)

With its stunning, snowy mountains and beautiful beaches, Chile would be captivating even if it wasn’t turning out some of the most interesting and accessible wines in the world. But large producers like Concha y Toro and Casa LaPostolle have put Chile on the wine map with their complex yet value-driven Merlots and Cabernets, and lately smaller regions like Maipo, Casablanca, and the Bio Bio Valley have become more widely available.

Now, Syrah, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, and even that elusive beast of the wine world--affordable Pinot Noir—have joined the ranks of Chile’s most famous offerings. And don’t forget Chile’s signature grape, Carmenere--a peppery, purpley beast that goes wonderfully with grilled meat dishes. Best of all, Chile offers some of the best value in the world, with many outstanding wines selling for under $12.
