Critical Acclaim

JS92 JamesSuckling.com Thursday, November 3, 2016

"A wine with plenty of dried-strawberry and berry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, firm and velvety tannins — yet this is always refined and polished. A beauty. Drink or hold." (92 pts.)

VN90 Vinous Dec 2016

"Dark red. Ripe red fruits, pungent flowers and a hint of cola on the perfumed nose. Juicy and seamless in the mouth, offering pliant black raspberry and cherry flavors and a refreshing jolt of spicy white pepper. Finishes sweet and long, displaying smooth tannins and lingering floral and dark berry notes." (90 pts.)

SP89 Wine Spectator Aug 31, 2016

"Bright and focused, with powdery tannins supporting boysenberry and pomegranate flavors that linger on the finish. Best from 2017 through 2020. 23,000 cases made." (89 pts.)

WS89 Wine & Spirits August 1, 2016

"A generous, well-priced, full-flavored red, this wine offers generous cherry and strawberry flavors, a layer of toasted oak and enough fresh acidity to provide a surprising tension and lift." (89 pts.)

WE88 Wine Enthusiast 8/1/2016

"Young and fresh, Elk Cove’s entry-level Willamette Valley Pinot is a well-made, fruit-forward expression of the grape. Hints of clove wrap around peppery berry and cherry fruit. It’s a bright, appealing wine, drinking quite nicely already." (88 pts.)

RP88 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 29th Jun 2016

"The 2014 Pinot Noir is a blend of six vineyard sites that goes through a barrel selection, matured in wood for ten months. It offers brambly red fruit on the nose, a little darker than some others, but nicely defined and full of charm. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft, approachable entry. There is good volume in the mouth with blackberry, raspberry, white pepper and truffle-Iike notes with a structure underlying the fruit-driven finish. Good value Oregon Pinot Noir." (88 pts.)

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
