Critical Acclaim

VN89 Vinous Sep 2016

"The 2015 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next few years. Forward and succulent, the 2015 offers tons of appeal. Orange blossom, white flowers and light buttered notes flesh out in the glass. The addition of 4% Pinot Blanc, 3% Viognier and 3% Riesling, all aromatic varieties, adds pretty floral top notes and also gives the wine more of a white-blend (rather than a pure varietal Chardonnay) personality. Best of all, the 2015 is a terrific value." (89 pts.)

WE88 Wine Enthusiast 12/1/2016

"Nice and easy aromas of lemon sorbet, Gravenstein apple and jasmine emerge from this ever-reliable bottling from the late actor-turned-vintner’s family winery. The flavors are also straightforward and quite quaffable, with a light acidity framing apple flesh and Anjou-pear slices." (88 pts.)

RP87 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Aug 2016

"A rock-solid white that sells for a song is the 2015 Chardonnay Santa Barbara County (90% Chardonnay, 4% Pinot Blanc, 3% Viognier and 3% Riesling); it gives up lots of buttered orchard fruits, brioche, spice and a hint of citrus blossom in a medium-bodied, straightforward, beautifully quaffable style. It’s impeccably made and perfect for mid-week drinking." (87 pts.)

California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
