"In contrast to the La Chenaie, Le Pavillon is less immediate but ultimately more complex and intellectual. Its flavor profile leans more to the savory spectrum. Mouthwatering scents of bone marrow, tomato leaf, black pepper and sottobosco accentuate the dried cranberry fruit at the core. This reticent and somewhat mysterious wine is one to ponder over and see how it develops in a decanter over several hours. Le Pavillon is one of the older vineyards in the Dundee Hills of Willamette Valley, having been planted in 1972. The Pommard clones in Le Pavillon are own-rooted on volcanic Jory soils and have been farmed organically since 1999. While the La Chenaie would be ideal for a California Pinot drinker, the Le Pavillon would certainly capture the attention of Burgundy drinkers. Think of this as a top Premier Cru for a fraction of the price! I plan to see how this develops for the next 5 to 10 years."
From the Producer
This vintage provides very ripe flavors. Red cherry aromas are highlighted by notes of clove. The palate offers multiple layers of spice & restrained cherry fruit. Full of silky elegance, the finish is quite long, gradually fading gracefully. More complexity will show over time. Drink 2017–2030. Enjoy with pork chops with cherry-thyme pan reduction sauce.

When people think of Oregon, they think of Pinot Noir. And rightfully so! The region has been producing some of the finest Pinot Noirs in the world for decades now. The region's cool climate produced by the cooling nature of the Pacific Ocean also lends itself to other grapes such as Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. It's made up of several subregions, the most important and well-known being the Willamette Valley. Great wines are also coming from the Rogue Valley, Walla Walla, and Columbia Valley.
The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
