DESIGNATIONS

From the Producer

Currant, plum and black raspberry aromas are intermingled with a mélange of black pepper, nutmeg, and a whisper of dried herbs. The aromas flow through to similar flavors on the pallet. Sweet oak pulls it all together, complementing the lush textures. This delicious, multifaceted wine can be enjoyed now and should age beautifully though 2029 and even through 2034. Drink one now and save one to savor later.

Critical Acclaim

SP91 Wine Spectator Aug 31, 2021

"Bright and open in feel, with damson plum and red currant notes, laced with savory and bay leaf details, ending with a mix of red tea, singed cedar and sanguine echoes. Atypical, for fans of a leaner style. Drink now through 2030. 25,800 cases made." (91 pts.)

JD90 Jeb Dunnuck 7/22/2021

"The base 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley showed beautifully, with lots of darker currant and blackberry-like fruit supported by spicy oak, dried herbs, and a touch of loamy earth. Medium-bodied on the palate, it’s nicely balanced, with solid mid-palate depth, moderate tannins, and a clean, lengthy finish. This is pure, classic, well-made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that has loads of character and should drink nicely for 10–12 years." (90 pts.)

California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
