Critical Acclaim

RP90 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 28th Feb 2018

"The 2013 Lorenzo & Isabelle is a blend of 50% Sangiovese, 45% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. This is the second release of the IGT Toscana wine, with the first release happening a decade ago. Despite the hearty nature of the French grapes involved in this blend, the Sangiovese component clearly takes center stage in terms of appearance and, to a good extent, on the bouquet. The wine opens to a dark garnet color and shows bright aromas of dark cherry and plum. The aromas veer closer to red or purple fruit tones instead of black fruit characteristics. Mild aromas of delicate spice and tobacco are achieved, thanks to 34 months of aging in large oak casks. On the close, there is a point of cherry sourness that is a little abrupt in my view, and I’m not confident that it will ever iron itself out. Only 6,400 bottles were produced." (90 pts.)

There are few regions as picturesque as Italy's Tuscany. And there are few regions that produce finer wines, either. Tuscany is home to legendary wine regions Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti, among others, where the red wine grape Sangiovese is king. It's also home to "Super Tuscans," a category of Tuscan wines that don't officially fall within the Italian wine classification system.

Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.

Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
