Critical Acclaim

WE93 Wine Enthusiast 12/1/2014

"This is a dense wine, with mint aromas and dark, brooding tannins. Black plum and berry fruits are both rich and tight, with a strong mineral texture. It brings out the hard soil of the Douro and also the heat in the valley. It does need to age, so drink from 2018." (93 pts.)

RP88 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 1st Jan 2015

"The 2011 Domini Plus is a blend of 65% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz and 15% Touriga Nacional. It was aged in new French oak casks for 12 months. It also spent 2 months in used Port wine casks. This has moderate tannins, better focus, a bit more concentration and overall better structure than the rest of the producer’s red offerings this issue. Its mid-palate is well on the elegant side. It is by no means a big bruiser. It is, however, the only one of the group this issue that has a little upside. All that said, it’s also the one that seems well-drenched in oak, showing lots of vanilla that makes the fruit a bit hard to find. As this aired out, I retasted it several times and it did seem to improve, but it is a bit pricey for what it is. For best results, it could use cellaring for a year or two more to give it a chance to pull in some oak. It remains subtle, but it should have the ability to reward cellaring for a few years." Portugal

Portugal is most famous (and justifiably so) for its Port wines, fortified wines that are typically sweet and often served with dessert. Port wines come in many styles such as Tawny, Late Bottled Vintage, etc, and are classified by how they were produced.

Besides Port, however, Portugal is also one of the fastest-rising wine countries in the world (as far as quality and production) when it comes to table wines. You'll find some unbelievable values in Portuguese table wines, with grapes like Touriga Nacional at the forefront.
