Critical Acclaim

JS92 JamesSuckling.com Monday, August 24, 2020

"Pretty dark berries, chocolate, tar and some grilled meat on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied with round, lightly chewy tannins. Delivers lots of typical Rhone flavors and goodness. Drink now. Screw cap." (92 pts.)

JD88 Jeb Dunnuck October 6, 2020

"Always a good value, the 2019 Côtes Du Rhône Belleruche is ideal for readers looking for a terrific house red that won’t break the bank. Revealing a purple/ruby hue as well classic peppery Provençal aromas and flavors, it’s medium-bodied and has a solid spine of acidity, moderate tannins, and a crisp, clean finish. Enjoy bottles over the coming 2–3 years." (88 pts.)

RP88 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2020

"The 2019 Cotes du Rhone Belleruche offers up an enticing mix of blueberries and black cherries, accented by hints of cracked pepper, licorice and dark chocolate. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a broad feel in the mouth and supple tannins on the softly dusty finish. Pretty satisfying stuff for the modest price you’ll pay (probably around $15 when it hits the U.S. market)." (88 pts.)

France's picturesque Rhone Valley produces wines just as beautiful as its landscapes. Located in Southern France, the Rhone is divided into two distinct sub-regions, the Northern Rhone and Southern Rhone. In the Northern Rhone, you'll find red wines produced predominantly with the Syrah grape, which oftentimes take a few years to mature before reaching their peak. Meanwhile, there are a wide array of red grapes used to produce wines in the Southern Rhone, including Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre (which together produce a blend known as GSM). The most famous red wine coming out of the Southern Rhone is the red blend, Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.
