"The 2017 Barolo Villero is delicate and lifted in this vintage, with impeccable balance and tons of class. Villero is not an easy site to find balance, but the 2017 Oddero sure has it. Sweet cherry, crushed raspberry, rose petal, orange peel and cinnamon give the 2017 lovely aromatic nuance to match its mid-weight personality." (93 pts.)

"The nose hits its mark with vibrant cherry, strawberry and licorice aromas, adding ripe plum, leather, tar and mineral flavors. A solid structure gives shape and longevity, while this red ends with finesse and harmony. Best from 2024 through 2042. 740 cases made." (95 pts.)
Piedmont, a wine region on the edge of the Italian Alps in northwest Italy, produces two of Italy's most famous red wines, Barolo and Barbaresco. Both of these wines are made from the Nebbiolo grape, though there are other notable grapes used in the region such as Barbera, Dolcetto, and Moscato and Arneis on the white wine side. Vermouth also hails from Piedmont.
Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.
Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
