Critical Acclaim

VN95 Vinous Oct 2015

"A rich, unctuous wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard possesses magnificent richness and depth. Today, the 2012 is quite open and opulent, in the classic style for the year. Sweet red cherry, plum, spice, mocha and new leather are all pushed forward in a sexy, voluptuous wine to drink over the next 10–15 years. This is a classic 2012 with plenty of near and medium term appeal." (95 pts.)

RP95 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2014

"Of the three Beckstoffer Vineyards, it’s pretty much a joyride as to which one readers may prefer. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard of St. Helena is a knockout: a broad, opulent, round Cabernet fruitbomb with lots of cassis, incense, and blackberry. The wine is full-bodied, generously endowed with terrific purity, texture and length. This is a star and, believe it or not, it’s come in well under 15% natural alcohol. This beauty can be drunk now or cellared for 15 or more years." (95 pts.)

California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
