Item #: 51117

VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2019
The 2016 Primamateria, the estate’s Sangiovese/Merlot blend, is another exceptional wine in this range. Raspberry jam, spice, new leather, dried flowers and mocha lend striking aromatic nuance. The 2016 is sleek, ripe and exceptionally polished, not to mention flat out delicious.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2019
This is pure, but also velvety and vibrant, featuring cherry, black currant, tar, stony and iron notes. Firm and dense on the finish, with a juicy finish. Drink now through 2028. 3,400 cases made, 1,100 cases imported.

Castello d’Albola Santa Caterina

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 52553

SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2019
Top notes of berry and dark flowers are underscored by earth, stone and tobacco flavors in this red, which is vibrant and elegant despite the dense structure, yet it’s the vibrant acidity that defines this overall. Shows terrific length. Best from 2022 through 2036. 2,000 cases made, 800 cases imported.
JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 11, 2018
This is a good example of a Gran Selezione where the fruit is the main attraction as opposed to the wood. It falls into red territory, which includes dried red plums, cranberries, dried nutmeg and rose petals. Full-bodied and rather Burgundian, if the comparison is permitted. Fine, velvety tannins, zesty acidity and a long, very structured finish. Drink now or hold.

Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 38659

JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 4, 2022
This has intense spice and and floral character, with violets, bell peppers, morello cherries, cloves and tomato leaves on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with sleek tannins. Dense and compact palate. Some walnut notes at the end. Try after 2023.
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Feb 2023
Representing a big production of 280,000 bottles, the Tenuta di Nozzole 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Nozzole hits the mark. The wine’s attractiveness is enhanced by its value price tag as well as its genuine aromas of dark fruit, earth and lavender bud. It reveals a mid-weight texture and plenty of nice freshness. Sure, the flavor profile is pretty standard for the appellation, but it’s a sure bet with grilled meat or pasta. (Monica Larner)

The 2020 Chianti Classico is striking. Bright, punchy and vibrant, the 2020 possesses terrific energy from start to finish. Sweet red-fleshed fruit, cedar, blood orange, spice and incense are front and center. The 2020 screams with character. Once again, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has crafted an exceptional Chianti Classico that punches well above its weight. (Antonio Galloni)

A bright yet firmly structured Chianti Classico, with iron, leather, almond and floral accents surrounding a core of cherry fruit. Sleek and intense, with a lingering finish echoing cherry, red berry and mineral notes. Best from 2024 through 2040. 4,500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 4, 2022
Aromas of sweet berries, crushed stones and violets follow through beautifully to a medium-bodied with fine, integrated tannins and a pretty finish. Crisp and crunchy with structure. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Feb 2023
Here’s a wine I highly recommend. Packaged with a black label, the Volpaia 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva is certified organic Sangiovese from a site with sandstone soils that rises up to a cool 600 meters above sea level in Radda in Chianti. These well-priced results are perfumed and vibrant with black fruit, crushed stone and wild rose. I especially appreciate those drying mineral tones that match the wine’s elegant, mid-weight mouthfeel. Some 60,000 bottles were released. (Monica Larner)

Expressive, sporting cherry, plum, floral and mineral flavors matched to a vibrant frame. Open, elegant and beautifully balanced, making this approachable now. Features fine length, too. Drink now through 2036. 850 cases made, 475 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla is a dark, powerful wine. Black cherry, incense, leather and spice give this virile Riserva plenty of complexity. All that is missing is perhaps a bit of freshness. Even so, the 2019 is impressive, especially in terms of its depth and overall substance. (Antonio Galloni)

The 2019 Chianti Classico La Misse di Candialle is packed with red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal and blood orange. Translucent and super-expressive, the 2019 is another winner in this range from Candialle. Here, too, the purity of the flavors is magnificent.

The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva will thrill Sangiovese lovers. Ample and expressive in the glass, with tremendous nuance, the Riserva is simply exceptional in 2016. Black cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, incense, menthol and licorice bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. I would give the tannins a few years to soften. The 2016 is very clearly a special wine in the making. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Apr 2021
The Tenuta di Capraia 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Capraia is tightly packed with cherry fruit, raspberry and cassis. The wine’s primary aromas are lifted and bright, and the wine moves over the palate efficiently with fresh, mid-weight appeal. It serves to refresh and revive your palate during a course of Sardinian capra al profumo di alloro, or roasted goat with laurel essence. (Monica Larner)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2021
A harmonious texture and profile sets the stage for this red’s focused cherry, currant and floral notes. Mineral and tobacco accents sneak in as this plays out on the long finish. Shows excellent structure too. Drink now through 2040. 1,000 cases made, 500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 7, 2019
Aromas and flavors of blue fruit, wet earth and hints of slate, following through to a medium to full body and chewy tannins. Needs to soften a little. Better after 2021.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021
Made entirely from Sangiovese, this opens with aromas of violet, tilled soil and dark-skinned berries. The savory palate offers blackberry, tobacco and black pepper alongside polished tannins and firm acidity. Enjoy through 2027. (Kerin O’Keefe)

The 2019 Chianti is fabulous. Bright, punchy and full of Sangiovese character, Mori’s Chianti pulses with energy from start to finish. Lively acids perk up a core of crushed red berry and floral flavors. The 2019 is one of the very finest editions I can remember tasting. Don’t miss it.
