    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#49418

    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, July 28, 2020
A fresh, vivid red with cherries, currants and hints of hazelnuts and chocolate. Medium body. Racy finish. Like the vivid acidity that runs through this. Drink or hold.
    WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021
A blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Syrah, this has aromas of black-skinned berry, Mediterranean brush and a whiff of orange zest. The bright palate offers raspberry, cinnamon and white pepper alongside polished tannins and fresh acidity. Drink through 2025.
    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2021
An open, light-bodied red, this emphasizes black cherry, blackberry and thyme flavors. Soft tannins and the right level of acidity makes it very drinkable now. Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Drink now. 13,333 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.

  6. La Poderina Rosso di Montalcino

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#50274

    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Oct 2020
La Poderina’s 2018 Rosso di Montalcino opens to a light ruby color that shines nicely in the glass. The aromas open to wild fruit and tart cherry, but there’s a mineral note as well, with crushed stone or pencil shaving. Seeing 10 months in steel vat, this is a lean and tonic Sangiovese that would pair with a simple pasta al pomodoro with extra Parmigiano cheese grated over. Those chalky mineral tones give the wine better sharpness and definition compared to many of its peers. Some 44,000 bottles were rolled out, and you get great value with this bottle.

  7. Terre di San Leonardo

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#48325

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Feb 2021
This is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère with fruit contributions from across the estate vineyard holdings. The well-priced 2016 Terre di San Leonardo is a terrific sounding board not only for the vintage and its classic lines but also for the unique San Leonardo territory and microclimate at the Adige River bed between mountain peaks. The wine opens to a medium-light appearance with dark garnet highlights. The aromas are delicate and soft, with a lot of blue flower and wild rose. A refreshing layer of forest berry and cassis come next, and the bouquet finishes up with mulling spice and smoke. There is a point of sour cherry or cranberry on the finish. This is a large production, with 95,000 bottles.
    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
The 2016 Terre di San Leonardo Rosso is an excellent introduction to the producer and their style. The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Carmenère from younger vines, yet the same terroir of the flagship San Leonardo. The bigger difference here is in the composition, with Merlot taking a front seat to Carmenère, and in the aging, using a blend of 80% concrete and 20% French oak for a shorter period of time. That said, the Terre di San Leonardo is intended to be the fresher and more immediate wine of the house. Crushed black cherries, wild, peppery herbs, crushed stone and hints of animal musk can be found in the glass. It trades power for tension, displaying a mix of tart woodland red and black berry fruits, complemented by zesty acids and minerals with just a hint of sweet spice. Its structure is present yet doesn’t overwhelm.

  8. Planeta Frappato

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#46778

    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2020 Frappato is wickedly fresh yet fruit-focused, with bright cherries contrasted by candied orange peels and finally, a balancing hint of wet stone. This is soft-textured and energetic, with inner violet and lavender tones giving way to tart wild berries and hints of spice. The 2020 becomes rosy through the finale, tapering off with hints of chalk, while leaving the mouth to water for more. This zesty Frappato will excel best at the dinner table, where it will pair with a wide variety of cuisine. (Eric Guido)
