  1. J. Wilkes Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#51534

    WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2019
A high-toned acidity keeps this wine’s notes of ripe plum and fruit nectar in line and on point.
    VN8787 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2019
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles Highlands District is a bold, pungent wine. Savory herbs, tobacco and cedar add a strong aromatic presence. Although a very good wine, the Cabernet is not quite as compelling as the other wines in the range, while the savory style is on the edge of being distractingly vegetal.

Vivid ruby-red. Jammy red and dark berry scents, enlivened by a suggestion of white pepper. Juicy and light on its feet, offering gently sweet black raspberry and spicecake flavors that loosen up on the back half. Finishes smooth and gently tannic, showing good cling and lingering sweetness.

  3. Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#35998

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2021
Concentrated and creamy but not overly showy, this wine is balanced, restrained and layered. It meshes an apple-tart flavor with subtle vanilla and nutmeg nuances while underlying acidity achieves excellent balance.
    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2019 Chardonnay Vintner’s Reserve is very pretty and floral. Citrus, almond and dried flowers open nicely, followed by tropical notes that grace the finish. In 2019, the Vintner’s Reserve is a bit lighter than it typically is. Even so, it remains one of the greatest — if not the greatest — value in estate wine made in sufficient scale. It can be found pretty much anywhere.
    JD8888 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/22/2021
The larger production 2019 Chardonnay Vintners Reserve is a charmer, with clean citrus and melon fruits as well as a medium-bodied, nicely balanced, juicy, clean, and easy-drinking style on the palate. It’s another solid, well-made wine from this team.

  4. Benanti Etna Rosso

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#43678

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Oct 2019
The 2017 Etna Rosso (made with 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio) offers a very smoky and ashy bouquet that tells you, without any doubt, that this is a wine from the mighty Etna volcano. Rose petal and light berry aromas blur and soften the lines of those pretty mineral notes that are so strong at the beginning. Blue violets and blueberries are delicate accents that fill out the close. This vintage really pulls it all together nicely, a great pairing for pappardelle with wild chanterelle mushrooms. With 70,000 bottles made, this is an accessible wine offered at a great value.
    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 1/1/2020
Smooth and bright, this boasts an earthy elegance, opening with aromas of wild berry, blue flower and Mediterranean herb that interlace with earthy whiffs of leather and game. The juicy, linear palate offers crushed red cherry, orange zest, star anise and white pepper alongside lithe tannins and lively acidity. It closes on a saline note. Drink through 2027.

    Côtes de Provence Rosé
    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#35933

    JS9292 pts. - - Tuesday, February 2, 2021
Very pale apricot-pink color. Delicate aromas of sliced apple, pink grapefruit, peach, cream and stones follow through to a medium body and crisp acidity. Deliciously creamy and smooth. Drink and enjoy.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021
Brilliant peach skin. Red berries and pit fruits on the nose, and a floral nuance in the background. Silky and open-knit, showing good depth as well as energy to the red currant and nectarine flavors, which pick up a refreshingly bitter orange zest quality on the back half. Finishes long and juicy, with a repeating floral note and subtle grip. Don’t hate on this wine just because it’s popular.

  7. Amici Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#52981

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Nov 2020
A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is deep garnet-purple in color, striding confidently out of the glass with classic notes of baked plums, blackberry pie and blackcurrant cordial plus hints of cedar, unsmoked cigars and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and featuring impressively pure black fruit flavors, the palate delivers a firm texture of ripe, fine-grained tannins, finishing long, layered and with lovely freshness. 1,400 cases were made.
    JS9494 pts. - - Monday, August 24, 2020
Lots of walnut, chocolate, currant and thyme character to this with some wet earth and forest fruit. Vibrant nose. It’s full-bodied with lots of fruit and ripe tannins. Flavorful finish. Solid red. Drink or hold.
    JD92+92–94+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2020
Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes is a selection put together by Biagi and comes from a mix of the single vineyards. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all still aging in new barrels, it offers a plush, forward, full-bodied style that carries classic notes of jammy blackberry and cassis intermixed with lots of spice, chocolate, and a touch of graphite. This pleasure bent beauty will drink nicely for 10–15 years.
    VN91+91–94 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is powerful and dense with a real sense of classicism that runs through it. Gravel, licorice, black cherry, cloves and leather all race out of the glass in a positively stunning, inviting Cabernet that hits so many high notes. There is something truly magical about the 2018. Given its quality and price, the Reserve is unquestionably the wine in this range readers should focus on first.

  8. Masseria Li Veli Askos Susumaniello

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#48146

    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2021
The 2019 Susumaniello Askos mixes peppery herbs with woodland berries and smoke to create an understated yet very pretty bouquet. Its silky textures flow effortlessly across the senses, riding a wave of cooling acid and mineral tones, and hints of blackberry come forward more toward the close. The 2019 tapers off persistent and lightly structured, leading me to believe that a year or two of cellaring may reveal an even deeper expression.

  9. Evodia

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#31225

    JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - March 22, 2021
Based on 100% Garnacha, the 2019 Evodia is a killer value that delivers incredible Garnacha flair at a crazy good price. Kirsch, blackberry, acacia flower, violet, and sandalwood notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, beautifully layered wine with fabulous tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. This is the finest wine at this price point in the world.
    RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Apr 2020
The 2019 Evodia is pure Garnacha from old head-pruned vines in the Sierra Santa Cruz in Calatayud. It fermented with around 20% full clusters in concrete and matured mostly in concrete with just 20% of the blend put in used oak barrels for three months. There is a component that matured in concrete egg that I was able to taste separately that seems to bring a touch of freshness to the final blend, something welcomed in a warm year like 2019, which seems like a fresher version of 2017, when the wines achieved quite good ripeness. The nose opens up nicely in the glass and is quite aromatic and floral, exuberant, with a heady touch of ripe fruit. It’s young and tasty, tender and pleasant to drink, with a forward personality. A real bargain. I hope there are more wines like this in Aragon, where the wealth of Garnacha vineyards would make it possible quite easily. 150,000 bottles produced. There are two batches per year. What I tasted had been bottled in February 2020, just a few days before I sampled it.

  10. Garnacha de Fuego

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#28784

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
Brilliant violet. Expressive cherry, blueberry and floral pastille aromas are complemented by suggestions of cola and licorice. Sweet, seamless and broad in the mouth, offering jammy black and blue fruit and spicecake flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Shows appealing sweetness and no rough edges on the long, juicy finish, which features repeating spiciness and a hint of florality.
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - October 21, 2020
All destemmed Grenache from the Calatayud region of Spain, the 2019 Garnacha De Fuego offers a deeper purple, almost opaque color to go with gorgeous wild strawberry and blueberry fruits intermixed with notes of candied orange and flowers. This beauty is medium-bodied, seamless, textured, and just impossible to resist. It sells for a song and way over-delivers. Enjoy bottles over the coming year or two, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it keep even longer.

  11. Poggerino Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#50143

    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2019
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla is a total knock-out. Plush, dark and explosive, the 2016 possesses superb depth and textural richness. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, espresso, licorice, new leather and spice all flesh out in a heady, super-distinctive Riserva loaded with class and personality. The 2016 is fabulous in every way, but I especially admire its explosive energy.
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2019

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#48534

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020
Opaque ruby. Deep-pitched scents of ripe black/blue fruits, vanilla and succulent herbs. Plush and open-knit, offering smoke-tinged blackberry cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors complemented by spicy oak tones. Fruit-driven and approachable, finishing with rounded tannins and a touch of cracked pepper.
    WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2021
Blackberry, loamy soil, incense and roasted meat aromas show on the nose of this bottling. It lands on the palate with clean red fruit and sharp acidity, as waves of pine and smoke ride slightly chunky tannins into the finish.

    VN94+94+ pts. - Vinous - Oct 2020
The 2016 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota continues this tasting of frankly awe-inspiring wines. Rich, deep and super-expressive, the 2016 hits all the right notes. Black cherry, plum, spice, leather, licorice emerge, but only with great reluctance. The Muncagota is another wine in this range that clearly needs time.

  14. Cambria Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#88898

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
The 2018 Chardonnay Katherine’s Vineyard is a gentle, open-knit wine. Soft contours and the tropical accents typical of Santa Maria give the 2018 a very pretty sense of immediacy. Airy and gracious, with terrific precision, the Katherine’s Chardonnay is classy through and through.
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2020
Lithe and powerful, featuring a vibrant core of apple and peach pastry flavors, with dried tropical fruit accents. Buttery midpalate, with a plush finish that lingers with intense spiciness. Drink now through 2024. 56,701 cases made.
    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2020
For such a widely available wine, this is an extremely reliable bet. Aromas of clean and light lemon, nectarine and sea salt are pleasantly mellow, while the palate offers balanced brushes of lemon peel and white peach, wrapped in a soft yet acid-boosted texture.
