  2. Sella & Mosca Cannonau de Sardegna Riserva

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#25953

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2021
The 2018 Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva is a very pretty yet understated effort that slowly comes to life in the glass with a display of fresh roses, cardamom and wild strawberries. This is silky and cool-toned with a pure display of mineral-tinged red and blue fruits, gaining an inner sweetness toward the close. Round tannins mix with residual acids to create a push and pull of tension through the finale, as this tapers off to a flourish of violets and spice. The 2018 is a wonderfully harmonious and pure expression of Cannonau.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2021
A fresh and elegant red that draws you in with an enticing nose of dried flowers and spices, layering notes of pureed raspberry, dried cherry, wild sage and citrus on the palate, with a subtle streak of salinity and light, supple tannins. 3. Clos de los Siete

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#25801

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/30/2021
Clos de los Siete almost never fails, and this version from a ripe and easy vintage is just that: ripe and easy. Inky blackberry and black currant aromas show a waft of campfire creosote, while this feels big and round, with plenty of mouth-blackening fruit. Oak-aided blackberry, cassis and chocolate flavors come with a hint of herbs, while the finish is smooth and mild. Drink through 2023.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2021
Dense and powerful, with plenty of loamy notes to the dark cherry and roasted plum flavors that show creamy accents. Ends with dark chocolate on the finish. Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2024. 650,000 cases made, 22,400 cases imported.

  4. Ridge Geyserville

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#54054

    JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 6, 2021
A beautiful red with lots of blackberries, cloves, stone, spice and purple fruit. It’s full and balanced with a creamy texture and a flavorful finish. Some graphite to the black fruit. More zin this year in the blend. 71% zinfandel, 19% carignan, 7% petite sirah and 3% alicante bouschet. Drink now.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021
Deeply structured, yet nimble on its feet. Blackberry, fresh fennel and brown baking spices build richness and layers toward medium-grained tannins. Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2030. 11,000 cases made.
    JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/22/2021
The 2019 Zinfandel Geyserville is 71% Zinfandel, 19% Carignan, and the rest Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. This was a cooler vintage yet this wine reveals plenty of ripeness in its black and blue fruits as well as violets, cigar, and toasted spice-like aromas and flavors. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and expansive on the palate, it has some obvious minerality, building tannins, and a great finish. It’s not going to match the 2018, but it’s still a complete, nuanced, complex Zinfandel that will keep for 10–15 years.

  8. Quinta do Noval Vintage Porto

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#52955

    SP9797 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 28, 2021
Juicy and muscular, with a ball of plum paste, warmed fig compote and black currant reduction flavors that need time to unwind. Ample graphite- and bramble-accented grip underscores the fruit on the finish, while a ganache note finds room to strut its stuff in the end. Should be one of the longer-lived wines of the vintage. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. Best from 2030 through 2055. 1,600 cases made, 490 cases imported.
    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 10th Sep 2020
The 2018 Vintage Port is a field blend aged for 18 months in old wood vats. It comes in with 100 grams of residual sugar. This was bottled May 13, 2020. Simply gorgeous, this is aromatic, chock-full of flavor and wholly delicious — but that’s just the starting point. It has a serious backbone too, perfectly countered by the mid-palate depth. More than lovely, it might well be my favorite of the 2018s I’ve seen thus far, if I were forced to pick just one. It is surprisingly accessible, in a way, but that’s because the mid-palate soaks up the power. It was certainly still vibrant days later. It should age well, but let’s be just a little conservative now in evaluation and drinking windows.
