Critical Acclaim

RP94 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Oct 2013

"More serious, substantial and complex is the 2010 Oakville Estate, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec. This 1,000+-blend was aged in 100% new oak. It exhibits attractive notes of spring flowers, forest floor, licorice, black currants and graphite as well as medium to full-bodied, seriously endowed, beautifully pure and textured fruit notes offered in this stylish, classy, noble wine. It can be enjoyed for two decades." (94 pts.)

VN92 Vinous Dec 2014

"The 2010 Rudd Oakville Estate Red is a bit perplexing today. Although sumptuous and very ripe, the early signs of oxidation suggest the fruit may have been picked too ripe and/or the wine may have spent too much time in barrel. All things considered, the 2010 is much less expressive than it has been in the past." (92 pts.)

California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
