Our Staff Picks

The staff here at Premium Wine and Spirits has an extensive background in tasting and judging wines. Many of our managers and associates, aside from tasting wines here, travel all over in search of new and interesting products to bring to Premier. Each of our individual staff members have taken some time to sit down and create a full list of their favorite Premier wine. Their criteria were simple: Taste, Value and Uniqueness! Take a look at what each of our staff members have chosen, and remember, their combined knowledge spans over several decades and countries so let them help you in picking out your next favorite wine or spirit!

  5. Fort Ross Chardonnay
    Fort Ross Chardonnay

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#39360

    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Dec 2014
The 2012 Chardonnay Fort Ross Vineyard (447 cases) comes from an old Hyde Vineyard clone of Chardonnay (80%) and 20% from the old Wente. Aged ten months in French oak, of which 10% was new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is just a killer Chardonnay. A rather thick-looking light gold color is followed by loads of spring flowers, wet rocks, honeysuckle, almond paste and caramelized citrus with a touch of brioche and white peach. It’s beautifully textured, full-bodied, incredibly elegant and intense. This is a superb Sonoma Coast Chardonnay to drink over the next decade or more.
    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2014
Unctuous and ripe in caramel and toasty aromas, this is deep golden in color but completely crisp and balanced in the glass. The nose is so overwhelming that the flavors take time to show. Once they do, it’s a celebration of green apple and melon enveloped in complex minerality and a supple body.

    Laurent-Perrier Brut L-P

    NV / 750 ml. | Item#57776

    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 1994
Balance and elegance are the hallmarks of this lively, rich-tasting Champagne. Crisp acidity supports the light, bright fruit flavors and marries with nice doughy, spicy notes on the finish. Could be aged through 1996.
    WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/15/1997
Pale bright golden appearance. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Ripe citrus, peach. Hints of toasty yeast on the nose with mild nutty notes. Bright, full-flavored and endearingly fruity with greate persistence. Lively fresh mouthfeel has a creamy note through the finish.
    WS8787 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2006
The spicy cologne of sapwood and the sweetness of caramel show the oak influence in the Chardonnay-dominated wine. It’s soft and buttery-rich, for seared salmon.
    BTI8585 pts. - Beverage Testing Institute - April 1, 2001
Pale straw hue. Doughy, yeasty aromas follow through nicely on a medium-bodied palate with white citrus and apple flavors that finish cleanly.

    Liastos Moraitis

    2006 / 500 ml. | Item#31250

    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 21st Dec 2009
The 2006 MONEMVASIA LIASTOS was sun dried for 15 days and then aged in oak. Relatively light, it is laced with apricot and peach nuances, not particularly syrupy, and not as rich in the palate as the nose promises. It is very tasty, but it does thin fast and the fruit acquires a dried apricot nuance with air and warmth. The intense aromatics were its best feature. Drink now–2015.
