Wonderfully energetic and admirably concentrated, our 2017 Staglin Chardonnay expresses an alluring citrus spectrum of ripe Lisbon and Meyer lemon that evolves to reveal delightful Bosc and Green Anjou pear notes with highlights of wintergreen and honeysuckle and mineralized by a pinch of Maldon salt and bow rosin. Simultaneously crystalline and creamy, this lissome wine delights from beginning to end.

Critical Acclaim
VN94Vinous Dec 2018
"Staglin’s 2017 Chardonnay Estate is polished and understated, almost surprisingly so given the heat of the year. Orchard fruit, white flowers and tropical overtones grace this subtle, nuanced Chardonnay. Work in the vineyards to shade the fruit and not lower yields dramatically, along with aging in 500 and 600L barrels with mostly blocked malolactic fermentation all help preserve freshness and finesse. There is plenty of both in the 2017." (94 pts.)
RP92Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 31st Oct 2019
"There is nothing shy about the 2017 Chardonnay Estate! It bursts from the glass with a rip-snorting, beautifully boisterous nose of warm apple pie, peach cobbler and pink grapefruit with hints of cedar, lime blossoms, lightly browned toast and crème caramel. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers great texture and tension, giving mouth-filling apple and citrus flavors and finishing on a lingering savory note. Yum!" (92 pts.)

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).
The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
