  1. Palacio del Burgo Rioja Crianza

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#49092

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2019
Brilliant violet color. Fragrant, oak-spiced dark berries, cherry preserves and a hint of candied flowers on the nose. Blends depth and energy smoothly, offering ripe boysenberry, cherry-cola and coconut flavors and a touch of smokiness. Closes spicy, broad and long, with smooth tannins and lingering florality.

This plush red offers kirsch, plum and chocolate flavors that have a jammy character. Tangerine acidity keeps this lively, and leafy and licorice notes add interest. Tempranillo and Graciano. Drink now through 2021. 8,500 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.
    RP8585 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Feb 2018
The 2015 Palacio del Burgo Crianza is pure Tempranillo with higher ripeness and more presence of oak, aged in new, second and third use American oak barrels with high toast for one year. I found this too oaky for my taste, and the aromas of coconut, smoke and vanilla dominate the nose. The palate revealed sweet tannins, round and lush with lots of balsamic flavors, hinting on mint and eucalyptus. For fans of oaky Rioja. 72,000 bottles produced.

  4. Borsao Berola

    2014 / 750 ml. | Item#47525

    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2018
A round, plush texture carries ripe, fruity flavors of kirsch, blackberry and tangerine, with notes of vanilla, cola and mountain herb. Light, firm tannins keep this grounded, kept lively by citrusy acidity. Garnacha, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2024. 12,000 cases made.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jun 2017
The 2014 Berola is a blend of Garnacha and 20% Syrah aged in French and American oak barrels for 14 months. It has a similar profile to the Bole, but with more influence from the élevage, with Garnacha that was close to getting in the blend of Tres Picos, and Syrah that could almost make it into Zarihs. The nose combines, smoky, spicy and creamy notes with aromas of ripe berries and a touch of earth. It’s a matter of style, but I like it less when the oak is more obvious, even if the wider audience might prefer it. However, this should work very well with food and better integrate the oak with a little more time in bottle. 72,000 bottles produced.

Plenty of poached raspberry fruit on the nose with a swathe of ripe blackberry-soaked tannins on the palate. Doughy and ripe finish. Drink now.
