Critical Acclaim

WE91 Wine Enthusiast 8/1/2015

"This fresh, savory blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese offers a bouquet of blue flowers, cedar, wild berry and light cooking spices. The vibrant, focused palate doles out juicy wild cherry, ripe red currants and white pepper alongside silky smooth tannins and bright acidity. Drink through 2020." (91 pts.)

RP90 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 28th Jun 2015

"Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese make up the 2013 Le Difese. The wine opens to a garnet hue and medium consistency. It’s easy-drinking style is reinforced by bright berry flavors of blueberry and cassis followed by sour cherry and cranberry. This vintage is slightly thornier and more acidic than the warmer vintages that precede it. It also shows an extra touch of elegance and persistency. The wine is silky and tight on the close with a long sense of berry freshness that keeps it alive on the palate." (90 pts.)

SP89 Wine Spectator Oct 31, 2015

"Round and smooth, exhibiting cherry and herb flavors in a straightforward way, with moderate lenght. This is balanced and ready to enjoy. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2018. 28,000 cases made." (89 pts.)

There are few regions as picturesque as Italy's Tuscany. And there are few regions that produce finer wines, either. Tuscany is home to legendary wine regions Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti, among others, where the red wine grape Sangiovese is king. It's also home to "Super Tuscans," a category of Tuscan wines that don't officially fall within the Italian wine classification system.

Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.

Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
