Champagne
Champagne. The word alone elicits thoughts of luxury, grandeur and poise. Located in northern France, Champagne is one of the northernmost wine-producing regions in the world. This tasty, bubbly beverage is made with varying percentages of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier… if you see a bottle labeled “Blanc de Blanc” it is made from 100% Chardonnay while “Blanc de Noir” is made from only Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Famous Champagne houses such as Krug, Veuve Clicquot, Ponsardin, Bollinger, Louis Roederer, Tattinger, and Moët & Chandon have been refining their craft for over 100 years (200+ in some cases!). The highest examples of Champagne know no equal and thus, have been legally protected. With only the rarest of exceptions, no bottle of sparkling wine produced outside the Champagne region can have the word “Champagne” printed on its label.
