Deep ruby. Cherry and blueberry jam on the nose, with a subtle hint of baking spices. Lush and creamy, offering sweet dark berry liqueur flavors and a velvety texture. A sappy, deeply sweet style that is firmed by gentle minerality, which keeps the luscious fruit in check. This is all about fruit.

    Chris Ringland Shiraz

    2002 / 750 ml. | Item#26671

    RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2007
It is difficult to say that Chris Ringland’s latest Shiraz is his best to date because he has set the bar so high. The 2002 Shiraz “Chris Ringland,” sourced from a vineyard planted in 1910 with yields of 1 ton per acre, comes from a vintage Ringland describes as “too good to be true.” The wine took 18 months to go through malolactic fermentation. Purple/black-colored, it offers up a killer perfume of mineral, scorched earth, truffle, fresh asphalt, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry. Full-bodied, dense, and thick, it has fabulous spicy, black fruit flavors, great balance, and enough structure to drink well for 30–40 years. It is a truly monumental Shiraz on a level with the best Syrahs of Guigal, Chave, Chapoutier, Bratasiuk, and Krankl. To put the 2002 in some context, Ringland also presented the 1999 (99 points), the 2000 (97 points), and the 2001 (100 points). I’m convinced!

    NV / 375 ml. | Item#36106

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Feb 2013
Pale amber color with a nose of hazelnuts, dried figs, sultanas and dates plus hints of brine and dusty earth, the NV Legacy of the Barossa 30 Year Old Pedros Ximinez is very sweet, unctuous and full in the mouth with a great concentration of nutty dried fruit flavors, a wonderful backbone of refreshing acid, and a very long finish. This is a beautifully balanced fortified wine and ready to drink now.

Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz

    2011 / 750 ml. | Item#36189

    RP8787 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Feb 2013
Deep purple-black in color, the 2011 Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz has a slightly reduced nose to begin with before the rubbery notes give way (with aeration) to aromas of black plums and freshly crushed black currants over pepper, charcoal, tar and fertile earth. Medium to full-bodied, it shows off plenty of expressive berry and earth flavors, a medium level of grainy tannins, and a refreshing lift in the long finish. Drink it now to 2017+.

  7. Elderton Botrytis Semillon
    Elderton Botrytis Semillon

    2005 / 375 ml. | Item#25433

    ST9191 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Sep/Oct 2007
Bright gold. Ripe peach and apricot scents are deepened by buttery toffee and toasted nuts. Silky, sweet and pure, displaying an array of caramelized orchard and pit fruit flavors. Lush and open-knit on the long, sappy finish. This is a dessert by itself.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2006
Somewhat under the radar for American consumers is Elderton’s top-class Semillon Botrytis. The 2005, a Sauternes look-alike, reveals aromas of creme brulee, buttery pineapple, and toasty oak in its rich, moderately sweet personality. Good background acidity and structure suggest it will evolve nicely for a decade.

    2010 / 750 ml. | Item#33414

    ST9090 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Jul/Aug 2012
Bright violet color. Deeply pitched aromas of black and blue fruits, cola and licorice, with a spicy topnote. Picks up a smoky quality with air and offers powerful boysenberry and dark cherry qualities. Dusty tannins add grip to a long, sweet and penetrating finish. This wine drinks very nicely with some decanting.
    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2012
This fresh red exhibits a wild edge to the berry and spice flavors, weaving in earthy wildflower notes as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2015.

A serious effort, the 2004 Grenache Gomersal includes 3% Shiraz, and is aged in 500 liter pungeons. Its deep ruby color is followed by a sweet bouquet of cranberry jam, kirsch, licorice, spice box, and earth. Drink this long, rich, round, open-knit, heady Grenache over the next 4–5 years.
