Oregon is most famous for its Pinot Noirs, the wine that put Oregon on the map. Thanks in part to this grape, the number of Oregon’s wineries increased from 5 in 1970 to 453 in 2009

The majority of Oregon wine production is centered in the Willamette Valley AVA, around and south of Portland. Other AVAs of consequence to the south are Red Hill Douglas County, Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley, and, in eastern Oregon, bordering Idaho, the Snake River Valley, with a more continental climate. Pinot Noir is, by far, the most planted and successful varietal, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Syrah.

  4. Averaen Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#47041

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
Glistening ruby-red. Ripe red and dark berries, cherry-cola and a hint of allspice on the perfumed nose. Pliant cherry and black raspberry flavors show good energy and pick up a hint of smokiness on the back half. Plush and seamless in texture, with lingering floral and spice notes on the long, subtly tannic finish.
    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 1/1/2020
Fruit sourced from six Willamette Valley AVAs and well over a dozen vineyards combines in this sweetly fruity wine. Pretty plum and marionberry flavors are enhanced with a light touch of herbs, putting a frame around the finish.

Ripe, boysenberry and cherry aromas are nicely augmented with earthy, woody, savory notes. The palate has a succulent core of rich, cherry and plum flavors. Holds well on the finish. Drink now.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Apr 2020
The 2016 Pinot Noir Palmer Creek Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and scents of red and black cherries with earthy nuances of forest floor, mushroom and turned earth plus hints of dried flowers. Medium-bodied, softly framed and silky, it offers concentrated, earth-tinged fruits and a juicy finish. 217 cases produced.

  10. Brittan Vineyards Estate Chardonnay

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57601

    WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022
A master of Chardonnay, Robert Brittan expresses the particular strengths of the estate vineyard here. A stony foundation supports the crisp mix of apple, pear and peach fruit. Though relatively low in finished alcohol, the fruit reaches the edges of tropical papaya and the acids are moderate and proportionate. The wine spent 10 months in one-quarter new French oak. 13. Gran Moraine Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55528

    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2022
A vibrant red that’s multilayered with raspberry and tart cherry flavors that are accented by crushed stone and dusky spice notes, building tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2030. 5,000 cases made.
    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, April 28, 2022
Aromas of dark strawberry and stone with some orange-peel undertones. Medium to full body with a solid texture of pure tannins and a fresh finish. Curated and focused. Sustainable. Drink or hold.
    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022
An aromatic mix of toasted hazelnuts, blackberry fruit spread, nutella and peanut butter opens into an inviting palate with generous fruit and well-tempered tannins. The moderately low alcohol in no way detracts from the flavor, and subtle details of spice and herb that higher alcohol often conceals are here to discover.
    JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/16/2022
The 2019 Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton is perfumed with savory fresh pine, grapefruit, cedar, and incense as well as black cherry fruit. The palate is dry, revealing notes of black raspberry, tobacco, and dusty earth. Drink 2023-2032. (Jeb Dunnuck)
