Shop for Top Oregon Pinot Noirs and more

Oregon is most famous for its Pinot Noirs, the wine that put Oregon on the map. Thanks in part to this grape, the number of Oregon’s wineries increased from 5 in 1970 to 453 in 2009

The majority of Oregon wine production is centered in the Willamette Valley AVA, around and south of Portland. Other AVAs of consequence to the south are Red Hill Douglas County, Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley, and, in eastern Oregon, bordering Idaho, the Snake River Valley, with a more continental climate. Pinot Noir is, by far, the most planted and successful varietal, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Syrah.

  1. Red Electric Interurban Pinot Noir

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#53269

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2019
Glimmering red. Spice-accented red fruit and rose oil on the nose, along with notes of white pepper, allspice and musky earth. Juicy and focused in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and red berry flavors with a touch of medicinal bitterness. Turns sweeter with air and shows very good energy on the persistent finish, which is firmed by dusty, fine-grained tannins that fold smoothly into the wine’s fruit.

    WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 04/21
With a dark display of fruit, plum and ripe black cherry, this wine borders on extravagant, but the fruit is kept reined in with chocolaty tannins. It over delivers for the price.

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#51371

    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2018
Trim and demure, with raspberry and green tea flavors. Drink now through 2023. 294 cases made.
    RP8686 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Aug 2018
Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2015 Pinot Noir Kalita Vineyard has an herbal nose of bay leaves, undergrowth and eucalyptus over Bing cherries and red licorice. Light to medium-bodied, it’s lacking a bit of intensity on the palate, geared more toward the herbal notes, with good freshness but drying tannins, dropping off a bit on the finish. 290 cases produced.

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2019
This Ponzi Pinot offers brambly berry fruit wrapped in flavors of thistle and underbrush. It’s textural and aromatic, with lavender, sage and dried herbs. Sourced from multiple vineyards scattered throughout the Willamette Valley, it saw one-quarter new French oak for 11 months prior to bottling.

  12. Brittan Vineyards Basalt Block Pinot Noir

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#46786

    RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2018
Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Basalt Block is youthfully coiled and shy, giving up notions of crushed red and black cherry, licorice, cardamom, forest floor and hints of rose petal and violet — this has plenty of lurking layers. The palate is medium-bodied and concentrated with firm, very finely grained tannins and great freshness to lift the density of flavor on the long mineral finish. Give this time in bottle — it’s going to be great.

The latest edition of this affordable Willamette Valley Pinot offers flavors that are solidly varietal and capture the vivid berry fruit and sappy acidity of the region. The tannins are just strong enough to frame it, with a trailing flavor of black tea.

    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2021
Pinpoint in structure and revealing a dense core of lively minerality, this is a handsome red with cherry and savory tea flavors that build tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2028. 7,736 cases made.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
Shimmering ruby. Smoky, spice-tinged black raspberry and cherry aromas carry a subtle floral topnote. Lively dark fruit and floral pastille flavors are deepened by a licorice nuance and a hint of bitter chocolate. Silky in texture and appealingly sweet, finishing with sharp focus and spicy persistence. 20% new French oak.
