Elouan Pinot Noir

Item #: 48659

SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2021
A toasty and zesty quaff, with jammy raspberry and spice flavors that finish with zip. Best after 2027. 87,505 cases made.
WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2020
The label speaks of sourcing from “prime vineyards on Oregon’s coast” though no such vineyards exist, the coast being subject to ocean-driven storms and weather. It’s almost jet-black in color, light in flavor, with suggestions of black cherries, new mowed grass, and plenty of tobacco and vanilla. (Paul Gregutt)

Averaen Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

2022 / 750 ml.

Item #: 47041

JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, December 5, 2023
I like the crushed stone minerality here, alongside aromas of cherries, violets and cacao beans. It’s medium-bodied, firm and nicely framed. Excellent focus. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
WE8585 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2023
Smoked blackberries, orange cake and the trifecta of fennel, thyme and oregano aromas made for a good start. The flavors of blackcap raspberries and ginger was also nice. What acted as a distraction was the wine’s stringent tannins. This pinot with pucker power may require time or decanting. (Michael Alberty)

Erath Oregon Pinot Noir

2021 / 750 ml.

Item #: 44814

WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 02/23
This is a steal for the way its savor and black cherry collide on the palate. It starts off with an herbal riff on cut-leaf tobacco. The tannins are firm and a touch furry, but the wine’s acids buoy the flavors into a bright burst on the finish.
JD8989 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/17/2023
The 2021 Pinot Noir Oregon is composed of 60% fruit from the Willamette Valley, 40% fruit from the Umqua Valley, and a bit from the Rogue Valley. It pours a transparent medium ruby and is forward with somewhat primary and juicy aromas of ripe red berries, crushed flowers, and a hint of forest spice. Easy-drinking and medium-bodied, it lifts cleanly off the palate and is straightforward, with a lot of charm for early drinking. Bottled under screwcap with 350,000 cases produced. (Audrey Frick)
SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2023

Ripe, boysenberry and cherry aromas are nicely augmented with earthy, woody, savory notes. The palate has a succulent core of rich, cherry and plum flavors. Holds well on the finish. Drink now.
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Apr 2020
The 2016 Pinot Noir Palmer Creek Vineyard has a medium ruby-purple color and scents of red and black cherries with earthy nuances of forest floor, mushroom and turned earth plus hints of dried flowers. Bright and juicy, offering tart raspberry and cranberry flavors laced with mineral and forest floor accents, which build tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2031. 25,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2023
This note is a snapshot in time. Tasted several months from now, who knows what the score might be? For now, on the cusp of release, it shows aromas of blueberries and a meaty note similar to bacon fat. Red-apple and sour-cherry flavors are flanked by a cedar note, moderate acidity and silky tannins. (Michael Alberty)
VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2022 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley lifts up with an herbal tinge of wild berries and savory spices. Hints of white pepper and chalky mineral tones emerge quickly, giving way to wild berries and a gentle licorice tinge. This finishes fresh with medium length, leaving rosy inner florals. (Eric Guido)

Shimmering garnet. Expansive aromas of fresh red fruits, botanical herbs and baking spices take on smoky mineral and floral overtones as the wine opens up. Juicy and precise in the mouth, offering alluringly sweet raspberry preserve, candied rose and spicecake flavors that convey depth as well as vivacity. Finishes on a juicy red fruit note, with silky, polished tannins and excellent, floral-driven persistence.

The 2020 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve has a medium ruby color and gregarious aromas of cranberries, red cherries, dried herbs, woodsmoke and tea leaves. Shop for Top Oregon Pinot Noirs and more

Oregon is most famous for its Pinot Noirs, the wine that put Oregon on the map. Thanks in part to this grape, the number of Oregon’s wineries increased from 5 in 1970 to 453 in 2009

The majority of Oregon wine production is centered in the Willamette Valley AVA, around and south of Portland. Other AVAs of consequence to the south are Red Hill Douglas County, Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley, and, in eastern Oregon, bordering Idaho, the Snake River Valley, with a more continental climate. Pinot Noir is, by far, the most planted and successful varietal, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Syrah.
