Shop for Top Oregon Pinot Noirs and more

Oregon is most famous for its Pinot Noirs, the wine that put Oregon on the map. Thanks in part to this grape, the number of Oregon’s wineries increased from 5 in 1970 to 453 in 2009

The majority of Oregon wine production is centered in the Willamette Valley AVA, around and south of Portland. Other AVAs of consequence to the south are Red Hill Douglas County, Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley, and, in eastern Oregon, bordering Idaho, the Snake River Valley, with a more continental climate. Pinot Noir is, by far, the most planted and successful varietal, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Syrah.

  1. Matzinger Davies Pinot Noir

    2014 / 750 ml. | Item#47848

    WS9494 pts. - Wine & Spirits - April 1, 2018
From two small vineyards in the Eola Hills, this wine is all strawberry-blossom perfume when first poured, its brisk red-fruit flavors remarkably lithe and precise. The wine only gets more sumptuous with air, seamless and forward, the bergamot-scented whole-cluster spice playing a supportive role to the fruit, which feels generous, loose limbed and long.

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2019
Glimmering red. Spice-accented red fruit and rose oil on the nose, along with notes of white pepper, allspice and musky earth. Juicy and focused in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and red berry flavors with a touch of medicinal bitterness. Turns sweeter with air and shows very good energy on the persistent finish, which is firmed by dusty, fine-grained tannins that fold smoothly into the wine’s fruit.

    WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 04/21
With a dark display of fruit, plum and ripe black cherry, this wine borders on extravagant, but the fruit is kept reined in with chocolaty tannins. It over delivers for the price.

  4. Et Fille Kalita Vineyard Pinot Noir

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#51371

    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2018
Trim and demure, with raspberry and green tea flavors. Drink now through 2023. 294 cases made.
    RP8686 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Aug 2018
Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2015 Pinot Noir Kalita Vineyard has an herbal nose of bay leaves, undergrowth and eucalyptus over Bing cherries and red licorice. Light to medium-bodied, it’s lacking a bit of intensity on the palate, geared more toward the herbal notes, with good freshness but drying tannins, dropping off a bit on the finish. 290 cases produced.

  6. A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#18542

    WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 04/21
A to Z draws from all corners of the state to produce this balanced blend that’s foursquare and delicious, generous but not overripe, black-cherry forward, held in check by modest oak notes. A midweek pinot.
    WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2020
What can be asked of a $22 Oregon Pinot Noir? Decent depth, varietal flavor, well-managed tannins — all present and accounted for here. There’s a mix of red and blue berries, and a wash of wet stone adding texture to the mouthfeel. The finish falls a bit short, but that’s what separates it from the pricier bottles.
    SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2020
Tart and perky, this fruit-forward red offers cherry and black tea accents that finish with lively tannins. Drink now through 2023. 161,801 cases made.

    Shea Vineyard
    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#47042

    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2020
The estate bottling brings together the various clones planted at this iconic vineyard. Offering a complex weave of plum, marionberry and blackberry, it matches its delicious fruit with 40% new French oak, adding a seam of coffee and dark chocolate. The tannins are polished to a fine gloss.
    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, July 2, 2019
Super dark fruit with plums and ripe cherries in abundance, as well as earthy, dark, toasted spices that lead to a palate with a very plush, vibrant and assertively fruited core. Smooth build here and a strong finish. Drink or hold.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
Saturated garnet. Pungent, spice-accented red berry and cherry aromas, along with suggestions of candied rose, vanilla and smoky minerals. Seamless and broad on the palate, showing good heft and spicy cut to concentrated raspberry, cherry compote, mocha and floral pastille flavors. The floral quality carries through an energetic finish that features discreet tannins and a lingering suggestion of sappy red fruit. Made with 18% whole clusters and aged in 40% new oak.

  8. Siduri Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#24979

    JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - May 21, 2020
I love the appellation series from this estate and tasting through them is a great way to learn about the difference in regions on the West Coast. Starting with the 2018 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley, it comes from multiple sites and saw 15% stems and 20% new French oak. Its deeper ruby/plum hue gives way to a medium-bodied Pinot Noir with a fresh, nicely structured style as well as terrific notes of black raspberries, strawberries, dried herbs, wood smoke, and earth. It’s balanced, has nicely integrated acidity, and is just a smoking good Pinot Noir.
    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Jul 2020
The 2018 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is medium ruby-purple and dark-fruited on the nose, with black cherries and berries accented by forest floor, mushroom, spices and minty touches. The medium-bodied palate offers bright, earth-laced fruits with a grainy frame, good freshness and long finish.
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2020
Vibrant and snappy, with fresh cherry, black tea and orange peel flavors that pick up speed toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2028. 29,331 cases made.
    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, January 30, 2020
Spicy oak influence sits across ripe red cherries with a swathe of freshly cut herbs. The palate has very attractive freshness and lithe, juicy appeal. Already lots to like here. Drink now. Screw cap.

  13. Bergström Cumberland Reserve Pinot Noir

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#53296

    RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2020
Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve takes its time to unfold to notes of earth, tar and blue and black berries on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, firm and seamlessly fresh with intense dark fruits and a peppery finish. It’s youthfully coiled and will have more to show with another couple years in bottle.
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2020
Dynamic yet harmonious, with expressive raspberry and rose petal aromas, accented by flavors of orange peel and dusky spice. Builds richness toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2028. 4,210 cases made.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
Vivid ruby-red. Mineral-accented red fruits, baking spices and a building floral quality on the nose. Nicely weighty and seamless in texture, showing very good clarity and spicy lift to sappy raspberry, bitter cherry, spicecake and savory herb flavors. Becomes sweeter and livelier with air and finishes silky and long, showing subtle tannic grip and repeating florality.
