View more wines from Bordeaux

Bordeaux is known the world over for its exceptional wines, particularly red blends made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, among others. These Cabernets aren't typically the full-bodied Cabs you get from California, but rather medium-bodied wines that emanate elegance and sophistication.

You'll also find some refreshing Bordeaux whites and, of course, Bordeaux's famous dessert wine, Sauternes.

Country / France

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

Saint-Pierre is quite possibly the most under the radar wine in Saint-Julien. The 2015 is fantastic. Rich, powerful and explosive, with tremendous depth and structure, the 2015 has so much to offer. Wild cherry, tobacco, leather, smoke and grilled herbs add shades of nuance, but it is the wine’s intensity and pure pedigree that stand out most. The 2015 is decidedly powerful, but it is also quite vivid and exceptionally beautiful. The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.

Chateau Lynch-Moussas 2015 / 750 ml.

2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 48852

WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 2/1/2018
This is a vastly improved estate, making impressively good wines in recent vintages. The wine is structured and tannic but also packed with black-currant fruits, good acidity and spice. It will take time to develop, so drink from 2025 at the earliest.
RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Apr 2016
The 2015 Lynch Moussas is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot cropped at 44 hl/ha between 17 September and 1 October. It has a very controlled bouquet at first with tightly wound raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, the oak nicely integrated and some lovely undergrowth aromas surfacing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, the acidity well judged, leading to a spice-tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. It is a very fine follow-up to the 2014 last year, with a freshness and class that I did not find conveyed ten years ago.

Chateau Langoa Barton 2015 / 750 ml.

2015 / 750 ml.

JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, February 2, 2018
Layered and juicy 2015 with currants, light chocolate and cedar character. It’s full-bodied, round-textured and very pretty. Extremely long and flavorful. So friendly and bright. Drink or hold.
JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 11/30/2017
A wine that overdelivers in the appellation is the 2015 Château Langoa Barton which is largely Cabernet Sauvignon yet includes 38% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Brought up in 60% new oak, it boasts a deep purple color and smokin’ good notes of caramelized cherries, crème de cassis, toasty oak, and graphite. Big, full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, with awesome purity of fruit as well as notable elegance, it needs 3–4 years of bottle age and will keep for two to three decades. Bravo! (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2019
The 2015 Langoa Barton has a precise, understated but focused bouquet of pure blackberry and wild strawberry fruit laced with graphite and crushed stone. It becomes more floral with time, revealing incense and a touch of lavender. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin and beautiful, irresistible black fruit. This is silky-smooth and velvety in texture, with a sensual and very persistent finish. You could broach this now, although it deserves time in bottle. Yet another Saint-Julien that has improved over the last year. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. (Neal Martin)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2018
A fresh and vibrant style, with streaks of pastis-soaked plum and boysenberry fruit coursing through, carried by graphite and licorice snap notes and ending with a vigorous, juicy finish. Approachable a bit earlier than the main pack, but there’s no rush either. Best from 2019 through 2038. 7,500 cases made. (James Molesworth)

Roche Darjac Bordeaux 2015 / 750 ml.

2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 40111

RP8585 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Sep 2016
The 2015 Roche Darjac is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. It delivers a pleasant redcurrant and cranberry bouquet, what you might call a little “solid” but with plenty of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with powdered chocolate sprinkled over the black and red fruit, chunky and big-boned but packed with flavor on the finish. This is a decent, commercial Bordeaux wine at a bargain price, but give it a year in bottle if you can.
