Château Cos d’Estournel Saint-Estèphe

2010 / 750 ml.

Item #: 39705

RP9999 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Mar 2020
Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Cos d’Estournel unfurls slowly, measuredly, releasing delicate notes of dried mulberries, stewed plums and blackcurrant pastilles before giving way to notions of potpourri, black cherry compote and chocolate box plus touches of dried sage, tobacco and new leather. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a rock-solid foundation of very firm, grainy tannins and very lively acidity supporting the remarkable intensity of tightly wound fruit layers, finishing very long and fragrant. Give it another 4–5 years in bottle and this will be stunning!
RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Feb 2013
The 2010 is a more structured, restrained, less flamboyant version of the 2009. A final blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that hit 14.5% natural alcohol, this wine (which represents only 55% of the estate's production) is full-bodied, classic and built along the lines of the 2000 (although that wine was made before Reybier acquired the estate and upgraded quality significantly). This wine exhibits beautifully pure notes of creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, pen ink, graphite and hints of toast and vanillin. The wine is full and rich, and although aged in 80% new oak, the wood is a subtle background component. This beauty will take longer to round into shape than the dramatic and compelling 2009. Forget it for 5–8 years, and drink it over the following three-plus decades.
SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2013
An extremely well-sculpted, modern wine, with an enormous core of plum sauce, blackberry coulis and cassis fruit to match the ambitious roasted apple wood-, black tea- and tobacco-infused toast. Dense and chewy now, displaying the tannic spine of the vintage, this remains integrated, racy and incredibly long, offering a piercing chalky backbone that rivets everything together. Best from 2018 through 2038.
WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2013
This is a complex and rich wine dominated by superripe fruit. It is a wine of extremes, of fruit, of dark tannins allied to some bitterness from the black chocolate extract. Ripe plums and sweet black fruits are given a lift at the end with bright acidity.
ST94+94+? pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Jul/Aug 2013
Full, bright ruby. Superripe but vibrant nose offers liqueur-like cassis, graphite, mocha and exotic oak scents; smells thick! Then plush, dense, large-scaled and seamless, offering extraordinary breadth and a 3-D texture to its dark fruit, graphite and mineral flavors. This very modern style of Cos finishes with outstanding, building, palate-saturating persistence and utterly sweet tannins.

Roche Darjac Bordeaux

2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 40111

RP8585 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Sep 2016
The 2015 Roche Darjac is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. It delivers a pleasant redcurrant and cranberry bouquet, what you might call a little “solid” but with plenty of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with powdered chocolate sprinkled over the black and red fruit, chunky and big-boned but packed with flavor on the finish. This is a decent, commercial Bordeaux wine at a bargain price, but give it a year in bottle if you can.

Château Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac

2010 / 750 ml.

Item #: 39253

VN100100 pts. - Vinous - May 2016
A wine of noble bearing and exceptional beauty, the 2010 Mouton Rothschild is a flat-out stunner. The aromatics alone are beguiling. On the palate, the wine is every bit as thrilling, with myriad layers of flavor that continue to open up in the glass. Graphite, gravel, smoke, plum, black cherry and savory herbs are all strikingly delineated throughout. Vivid and crystalline, the 2010 is a jewel of a wine, but it is impossibly young now. Readers who can be patient will be treated to a fabulous wine. Today, the 2010 reminds me of a more civilized version of the 1986. The 2010 is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon (the highest amount of Cabernet ever here). Dollops of Merlot round out the blend. Harvest took place between September 29 and October 13.
SP9999 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2017
This remains the stunner, a battleship of a wine, brimming with cassis, blackberry and fig fruit that has melded together now, with the backdrop of alder, bay leaf and menthol starting to emerge a bit more. The long finish is loaded with grip, pulling the fruit and other components together. And then there’s that flash of iron at the very end. Awesome wine. — Non-blind Mouton-Rothschild vertical (March 2017). Best from 2025 through 2060.
RP98+98+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Feb 2013
Only 49% of the production made it into the 2010 Mouton Rothschild, which has a strikingly beautiful label by Jeffrey Koons. This is a truly great wine, with a very high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (94%) and the other 6% Merlot. At 13.9% natural alcohol, Mouton’s director, Philippe Dhalluin, has clearly produced another 50- to 60-year wine that has a chance at perfection in about 15 years time, when I suspect this wine will be rounding into drinking condition. It is dense, rich and full-bodied, with the classic Mouton creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice and floral notes, but also some blueberry and hints of subtle espresso and mulberry. The wine has more minerality and precision than the rich, extravagantly opulent 2009, and while that may please some, others will have their patience tested as they wait and wait for this compelling Mouton Rothschild to hit full maturity.
SP9898 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2013
This strides in with distinction, starting off with a showy but integrated layer of espresso-infused toast, followed by plush tiers of crushed currant, plum and blackberry fruit interspersed with cocoa and well-roasted cedar notes. The long, tobacco- and loam-filled finish shows lots of heft, but stays polished. An impressive display of unadulterated, muscular Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2020 through 2045.
WE9898 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2013
A dense, smooth and opulent wine bursting with ripe Cabernet Sauvignon flavors. It’s regal and well structured, balancing the natural exuberance of Mouton with a more severe side. This is a wine with power, yet not without its charms from the fruitiness and final acidity. This great wine will age many, many years.

Château Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

2010 / 750 ml.

Item #: 39344

RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Feb 2013
As for the 2010 Haut-Brion, it does not have the power of Latour’s 2010 or the intense lead pencil shavings and chocolaty component of Lafite-Rothschild, but it is extraordinary, perfect wine. It has a slightly lower pH than the 2009 (3.7 versus the 2009’s 3.8), and even higher alcohol than the 2009 (14.6%). The wine is ethereal. From its dense purple color to its incredibly subtle but striking aromatics that build incrementally, offering up a spectacular smorgasbord of aromas ranging from charcoal and camphor to black currant and blueberry liqueur and spring flowers, this wine’s finesse, elegant yet noble power and authority come through in a compelling fashion. It is full-bodied, but that’s only apparent in the aftertaste, as the wine seems to float across the palate with remarkable sweetness, harmony, and the integration of all its component parts – alcohol, tannin, acidity, wood, etc. This prodigious Haut-Brion is hard to compare to another vintage, at least right now, but it should have 50 to 75 years of aging potential. Anticipated maturity: 2022–2065+.
SP9999 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2013
Sappy, tongue-coating pastis, blackberry coulis and loganberry fruit starts this huge wine off, followed by a parade of licorice snap, violet, tar, black tea, roasted alder, wood spice and steeped black cherry fruit notes. A beam of pure cassis drives through this, and the finish pulls everything together with a mouthwatering brambly edge that should soften slowly over time. A riveting display of brawny power, unbridled energy and high-level terroir. Best from 2020 through 2040. 7,800 cases made.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan

Cru Classe de Graves
2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 46820

JS100100 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Saturday, February 3, 2018
Rose petals, sandalwood and currants with some plums and fruit tea. Full-bodied, tight and focused. Incredibly straight and minerally. Toned muscles here. Tannic. Traditional and unwavering. Try in 2024.
RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 21st Feb 2018
The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 La Mission Haut-Brion is a blend of 58% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Youthfully mute with bright, youthful red currants, black raspberries, cassis and freshly crushed blackberries notions, it slowly unfurls to reveal an earthy/minerally undercurrent of damp soil, charcoal, iron ore and truffles plus a waft of violets. Medium to full-bodied, decadently fruited and yet wonderfully elegant with very ripe, very silky tannins, freshness that sits well in the background and an almost electric intensity of vibrant red and black fruit flavors, it finishes long and minerally. Just. Beautiful. Consider giving it 6–7 years in bottle before broaching and drink it over the next 30+.
VN96+96+ pts. - Vinous - Feb 2018
The 2015 La Mission Haut-Brion is every bit the wine I had hoped it would be. Rich, dramatic and powerful, it exudes intensity in all of its many dimensions. Naturally, the aromatics that make La Mission so compelling have not even begun to develop. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2015 for at least a decade, although I suspect the wine won't be ready to drink before age 20, as it clearly needs to shed some baby fat. A heady mélange of black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and tobacco builds into the dramatic, deeply expressive finish.
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2018
Alluring, with steeped plum, blackberry and açaí berry fruit imparting a distinctive edge. Slightly burly tannins roam underneath but the fruit is so fleshy and broad they are easily absorbed, while dark pudding, warm tar, licorice snap and roasted alder notes flow in on the lengthy finish. Reveals a gorgeous Turkish coffee accent at the very end. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2040. 6,800 cases made. (James Molesworth)
WE9696 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2018
This wine, rich and opulent, defines the terroir of this estate. It has a rich, dense character, powerful and concentrated. The juicy black fruits enhance the impression of generosity as well as concentration. Drink from 2027.

JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, March 3, 2021
The purity of fruit to this is really attractive with blue fruit, blackberries and flowers on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with fine tannins, a solid core of fruit and a long, attractive finish. Drink in 2022 and onwards.
JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/11/2021
Readers looking for a beautiful Bordeaux that’s not going to break the bank should check out the 2018 Château D’Auguilhe. Coming from the cooler Castillon region to the east of Saint-Emilion, this beauty offers a terrific perfume of ripe black raspberries, cherries, roasted herbs, sweet mulch, and spring flowers. It has a fresh, crunchy quality to its fruit, nicely integrated acidity, ripe yet present tannins, and the class to keep for 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 La Serre sports a medium bright garnet-purple color and is scented of warm plums, crushed blackberries and fragrant earth with wafts of black olives and mossy tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, finely crafted, refreshing and with lovely purity, it has a well-played frame of grainy tannins and a mineral note to the finish.

Château Canon-La-Gaffelière Saint-Émilion

Premier Grand Cru Classé
2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 43136

JS96+96–97 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, April 1, 2016
Very tight yet shows wonderful cream and lemon rind texture. Full and powerful with walnut and spice character. Linear and focused. 55% merlot, 37% cabernet franc and 8% cabernet sauvignon.
VN95+95–97 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2016
The 2015 Canon La Gaffelière is seriously impressive. Like all of Stephan von Neipperg’s wines in this vintage, the Canon La Gaffelière is endowed with considerable richness and a sense of vertical structure. The significant presence of Cabernet Franc gives the wine striking aromatic lift, which it very much needs. Mocha, red cherry jam and sweet floral notes give the 2015 its soaring perfume. This exceptionally beautiful Saint-Émilion is going to need time to fully come together, but it is super-impressive, even in the early going. The 2015 has been nothing short of magnificent on the two occasions I have tasted it so far. The presence of Cabernet Franc is felt in the wine’s strong aromatic signature.
SP94+94–97 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2016
Dark and winey, with currant paste and fig notes backed by slightly briary grip and an ample dose of toast. There’s good energy here and nice vivacity, despite the darker profile today, and this should easily round into form after the élevage.
WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 2/1/2018
This structured wine also offers juicy, elegant fruit. Full of black plums, spice from judicious wood aging and acidity, its core remains to develop. The wine needs to age so drink after 2024.
RP93+93–95 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Apr 2016
The 2015 Canon la Gaffeliere is a blend of 55% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon picked between 19 September and 6 October at 37 hl/ha and matured in 55% new oak barrels. It has another “cool” bouquet, a common thread among Comte Stephan Von Neipperg’s 2015s — very restrained at first, nicely focused and gradually revealing undergrowth and even a subtle charcoal scent (probably from the Cabernet Sauvignon). The palate is medium-bodied with black fruit laced with graphite and cedar, the Cabernet brothers really defining the character of this Saint Emilion and edging it towards say, more Figeac in style. This is a fascinating 2015, more cerebral than previous vintages that I have tasted over the years.

Château Saint-Pierre Saint-Julien

2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 48856

VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2019
The 2015 Saint-Pierre has a scintillating nose of brilliantly defined black fruit with superb mineralité. You can feel the energy coming from this bouquet. The medium-bodied palate is precise and pixelated, displaying fine-grained tannin and wonderful balance, leading to an exquisite, detailed, almost Margaux-like finish. Utterly graceful. This impressed me so much just after bottling, far more than in barrel, and assessed blind against its peers, it represents a convincing argument that Saint-Pierre is becoming one of the go-to Saint-Julien crus. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. (Neal Martin)
VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2018
Saint-Pierre is quite possibly the most under the radar wine in Saint-Julien. The 2015 is fantastic. Rich, powerful and explosive, with tremendous depth and structure, the 2015 has so much to offer. Wild cherry, tobacco, leather, smoke and grilled herbs add shades of nuance, but it is the wine’s intensity and pure pedigree that stand out most. The 2015 is decidedly powerful, but it is also quite vivid and exceptionally beautiful. The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.

Goulée by Cos d’Estournel

Item #: 50897

JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, February 3, 2019
Deep, dark and rich fruit, from plums to berries. Full bodied, layered, dense and very rich. Best after 2022.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jan 31, 2019
Takes a modern approach at first, with a glistening coat of sweet, vanilla-accented toast around a core of plush plum and blackberry puree flavors. A swath of tobacco and flashes of iron and cherry pit on the finish keep this grounded. Drink now through 2027. 7,917 cases made. (James Molesworth)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019
Bottled in April 2016, the 2016 Goulée by Cos d’Estournel has a vivid, fresh, lively bouquet of black fruit infused with bell pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and plenty of tarry black fruit laced with tobacco. I appreciate the freshness and classicism of this Goulée, which is more cohesive and shows a little more substance than previous vintages. Very fine.
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2019
Full of ripe fruit that gives an almost opulent character, this powerful wine is packed with tannins. A touch of dark chocolate contrasts with the black-currant fruits and acidity. The wine will develop relatively quickly and be ready to drink from 2021.
RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2018
The 2016 Goulée by Cos d’Estournel is made up of 77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with youthful notes of crushed red and black plums, cherries and blackberries with touches of chocolate mint and tobacco. The red grape Cabernet Sauvignon is like the lion of the wine world, the king of the grassland, and the most powerful player on the scene. Cabernet Sauvignon is produced in virtually every wine-growing region in the world with great success.

The most famous expressions come from California, specifically Napa and Sonoma Valleys, and from France in Bordeaux. Wine made from the cabernet grape is plentiful, and thankfully so since it's one of the most popular wines in the world.

Dense, lush, and spicy, Cabernet Sauvignon is an ideal companion for hearty meals like soups, stews, and steak, and also makes an exciting match for desserts and chocolate.
