Officially established in 1982, the Finger Lakes region has a storied history of wine production in New York State and is recognized the world over. The deep glacially formed lakes offer sublime growing conditions thanks to the sloping hillsides and moderating effect the lakes have on the temperature of the surrounding area.
The main growing regions are centered around Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake (which each have their own AVAs) but quality wine is being made throughout the region. Riesling is the belle of the ball in the Finger Lakes (oftentimes being compared to the Rieslings of Germany) but success has been had with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and others.
Region / New York
Seeing as our store is located in the midst of New York's wine regions, we have a special affinity for New York wines. And so should you! New York is now producing some of the world's best Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, and there are lots of other terrific wines made from grapes like Catawba, Niagara, Cabernet Franc and others being produced here, as well. Every year, the quality, reputation, and demand for New York wines continue to soar. What are you waiting for? Uncork New York!

Complex nose of herbs, savory notes and redcurrants. Quite a crisp palate, but with plenty of red and black currants. Good depth and healthy tannins are packed into the rather sleek body, together with lively acidity. Drink now.
Cohesive aromas of black cherry, black plum and tilled earth are lifted by savory accents of dewy herbs and crushed red pepper flakes in this well balanced Cabernet Franc. It shows smooth tannins on the palate that support the juicy berry and plum flavors, with a polish and poise to it all that makes it a delight to drink. (Alexander Peartree)

Fragrant nose, with aromas of violets and ripe red berries. Still a bit young, but good balance of energetic ripe red-fruit character, fine tannins and lively acidity. Quite a sleek finish, but everything fits. Very good aging potential. Drink or hold.
Olive, pepper and plum scents give this wine a vinous feel. With air, it becomes floral, all violet and lavender. The texture is lithe and velvety, a lively red for duck.

Attractive nose of freshly picked blackcurrants with hints of blackcurrant leaf and mint adding complexity. Excellent balance of ripe fruit and fine tannins on the medium-bodied palate, ending with a long, velvety finish that’s lit up by mineral freshness. Matured in neutral oak casks. Drink or hold.
A modestly scaled red, featuring a core of cherry and damson plum notes, with a floral hint checking in on the crisp-edged finish. Drink now. 500 cases made.

Riesling Cremant
NV / 750 ml.
Item #: 51597
Brisk, lemony and thoroughly refreshing, this sparkler’s ripe pear flavors and mild pear-skin finish would merit a pairing with miso-glazed chicken. It’s also an irresistible aperitif.
With its juicy, concentrated peach, nectarine and apple flavors, the Célèbre is Dr. Frank’s more approachable, easy-going sparkling. It’s fruity, forward and delicately sweet yet maintains steadfast acidity and a soft, foamy mouthfeel.
Chateau Frank’s NV Célèbre Crémant is a sparkling Riesling made using the méthode Champenoise, with a base wine of 2013. This off-dry wine has a fruity nose of spun sugar, kiwis, green apples, and a pronounced flint tone. The palate is playful and easy-drinking, with a gentle mousse and a sweet caress of fruit. 25 grams per liter residual sugar. Disgorged January 2016.
Definitely an easy-drinking crowd-pleaser that veers toward the sweet-tooth side (30 grams per liter residual sugar). Made from 100% Riesling. Aromas and flavors of grapefruit and honey, with a touch of spice, and soft and creamy on the palate.

A light-bodied sparkler, offering a slightly off-dry edge to the watermelon and strawberry flavors. Pinot Meunier. Drink now. 555 cases made.

I love the apple blossom and white peach aromas of this racy and very focused dry riesling that is only medium-bodied (12% alcohol), but it is beautifully balanced with a long crisp wet stone finish. The best vintage of this Finger Lakes stalwart in quite a few years! Drink or hold. Screw cap. (Stuart Pigott)

Delightful, with rich, almost viscous peach, apricot, quince and fig flavors that have weight, but glide along racy, floral-tinged acidity. Long and pure through the finish, with glazed apricot and maple notes hanging on nicely, leaving a mouthwatering feel. From 50-year-old vines. 100 percent botrytis-affected grapes. Drink now through 2017. 98 cases made. (James Molesworth)
The first producer in the United States to craft traditional Trockenbeerenauslese-style Riesling, Dr. Frank’s is still one of the very best. Deep gold in color, this luscious nectar fills the glass with aromas of candied orange and honeysuckle. Honey, dried mango and pineapple and exotic potpourri notes undulate persistently on the palate, ending in a languid tea leaf and honey finish. (Anna Lee C. Iijima)
