Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 / 750 ml.

Item#: 61143

RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Reserve is blended with 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot and was matured for 15 months in 30% new French oak. It has a deep ruby-purple color and pretty accents of cinnamon, violet, leather, dried herbs and bitter chocolate complementing cassis fruit. The full-bodied palate is concentrated yet fresh, with finely grained tannins, pure flavors and a very long finish. Give it another 3–5 years in bottle. 30,000 cases produced. (Erin Brooks)
JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/2/2022
Classic aromas of cedar and spice emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Reserve, followed by notes of black cherry fruit and graphite. The palate is full-bodied and fruit-forward, with blackcurrant, fresh soil, and cocoa powder. Ripe tannins emerging from the fruit, and the wine has a fairly long finish. Drink it now or over the next 8 years. (Audrey Frick)

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Lots of blackberry and forest-floor aromas with pine needles and bark that follow through to a full body with a pretty framing of chewy yet medium-grained tannins and a flavorful finish. Fresh too. Try after 2025. (James Suckling)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2022
Offers good intensity and energy, with bramble-edged plum, blackberry and boysenberry compote flavors pumping through. The finish is scored by sweet tobacco and apple wood. Best from 2023 through 2034. 2,500 cases made. (James Molesworth)

This deep and concentrated wine is as smooth as silk, scented with black currants, spearmint and a touch of toast, then soothes the palate with velvety tannins and lush, ripe fruit flavors. While easy to sip, it has a subtle, restrained tannin structure. Best–2028. (Jim Gordon)

RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022
I tasted the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner’s Reserve as a finished barrel sample of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Deep ruby-purple in color, the nose opens slowly to cassis, blueberry and violet, and the full-bodied palate is powerful and spicy, with a long, floral finish. 170,000 cases will be bottled after aging for 15 months in 7% new French oak and 7% new American oak. Dried lemon, orange peel, apple-flesh, white-flower and sea-salt aromas make for a compelling introduction to this bottling. The flavors warm up on the sip, where toasted hazelnut, browned butter and salted nectarine flavors align. (Matt Kettmann)
