Louis M. Martini Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 / 750 ml.

Item#: 18799

RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
Martini’s 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley comes from a multitude of Gallo-owned properties and includes about one-fourth purchased fruit. Marked by notes of almost peppery-spicy oak and ripe cassis, it’s full-bodied, ripe and generous, still not that rich or textured but a clear step up from Martini’s Sonoma County Cabernet, with a long, mouthwatering finish. (Joe Czerwinski)

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

An intense, sweet nose with lots of ripe, almost candied blackberries and blueberries. Some vanilla and pine wood, too. Full-bodied and soft on the palate with a warming, medium finish. Firm and linear. Needs two or three years to come together more. Try after 2024.
JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/4/2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific value and has a classic Napa style in its ripe plum and mulberry fruits as well as toasty oak and chocolate-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has ripe, supple tannins and the classic forward, delicious style of the vintage. Drink it over the coming 10–12 years as well. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Aromas of chocolate, cherries, blueberries, hazelnuts and some eucalyptus on the nose. Creamy and full-bodied, with polished, firm tannins. Balanced and caressing in texture. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

This shows balance, freshness and depth. An array of fine-grained tannins, bright acidity and complexity on the palate. Ripe dark and blue fruit combines with spiced oak, vanilla and cedar. It’s juicy and smooth now, yet has lots of potential. Drink or hold.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
A friendly version, with a polished core of cherry and raspberry fruit flavors laced with hints of black tea and tobacco. Ends with a dash of cedar and sanguine on the finish. Drink now through 2028. 6,113 cases made. (James Molesworth)
RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
Truchard’s 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is gently herbal, with hints of thyme to go along with black olives and black cherries. It’s medium to full-bodied, silky, streamlined and direct, with more of a straight-line personality than an expansive one, but it would go nicely with a rare steak off the grill. And it’s a notable value, as delicious Napa Cabs under $50 have become an endangered species. (Joe Czerwinski)

A plush, full-bodied red with currant, olive, walnut and chocolate-nut character. It’s full and layered with so much unctuous fruit, but not heavy nor overpowering. Delicious and satisfying now, but will age nicely.
JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/4/2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Jayson, which spent 18 months in 88% new French oak, offers a textbook Napa nose of ripe cherries, plums, scorched earth, and leather. Beautiful on the palate as well, it’s full-bodied, has a lush, mouth-filling texture, nicely integrated oak, and polished tannins. It’s up with the top wines at the price and is well worth seeking out. It’s going to keep for at least 15 years or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Jayson is a dark, bold and delicious wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Ripe red cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather are front and center in this tasty, inviting red. There is certainly plenty to like. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Sep 2022
Pahlmeyer’s 2019 Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon features notes of vanilla, cedar and black cherries—just a wonderfully harmonious swirl of flavors. It’s full-bodied, rich and velvety, maybe a bit open-knit, but delicious and fun to drink. (Joe Czerwinski)
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
Packs hefty cassis, plum sauce and blackberry preserves, with an ample dose of warm cocoa and singed vanilla. Everything melds steadily through the broad finish. Shows more oomph than purity, though. For fans of the style. Best from 2023 through 2030. 4,100 cases made. (James Molesworth)

SP95+95–98 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2020
Youthfully balled up, but there’s a ton of gorgeous cassis, raspberry and plum fruit, all of it kept in check right now thanks to a bolt of iron as riveting as I’ve seen in this wine. Barrel samples are often easily impressive, but this is way more than that.—Non-blind Louis M. Martini vertical (July 2020). (James Molesworth)
SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023
Well-built, with a dense core of red and black currant reduction flavors held in check for now, while iron-tinged sweet tobacco, warm earth and singed apple wood notes hold sway. Packs a muscular, racy structure that drives underneath, so just give this a bit more time to fully meld. Rock-solid, though. Best from 2025 through 2040. 1,350 cases made. (James Molesworth)
JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, January 14, 2022
Aromas of currants, blackberries, vanilla, walnuts and cedar. It’s full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Plush, supple and textured with a deep core of dark fruit and spice. Vanilla, too. Rich and flavorful. Big, chewy wine. Try from 2023. (James Suckling)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
Martini’s 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard has the site’s characteristic mint and herbal overtones, but it also offers deep cassis and plum notes. Full-bodied, ripe but firm, with typical Cabernet Sauvignon varietal austerity and reserve, framed by fine-grained, silky tannins that linger on the finish, it’s a classic example of Monte Rosso Cabernet.
