Chateau La Fleur de Bouard 2020 / 750 ml.

Item#: 60471

The 2020 Château La Fleur De Boüard showed beautifully, with the more elegant, finesse-driven style that this estate has been moving toward front and center. Ripe black cherries, mulberries, toasted spice, and beautifully integrated oak all emerge from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant on the palate, it has fine tannins, a terrific sense of freshness and purity, and outstanding length. It will benefit from 3–4 years of bottle age (it’s far from unapproachable even today) and will drink fabulously well over the following decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Bright and fleshy red with notes of ripe dark berries, sweet spices, citrus peel, moist earth, toast and blue flowers. Medium- to full-bodied with attractive crunchiness and succulence, firm, juicy tannins and a deep dark-fruited character. Structured and long. Better from 2025. (James Suckling)

Where It's From

Region / Bordeaux

View more wines from Bordeaux

Bordeaux is known the world over for its exceptional wines, particularly red blends made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, among others. These Cabernets aren't typically the full-bodied Cabs you get from California, but rather medium-bodied wines that emanate elegance and sophistication.

You'll also find some refreshing Bordeaux whites and, of course, Bordeaux's famous dessert wine, Sauternes.

Country / France

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

The 2020 Grand Corbin Despagne is fabulous. Rich, dark and ample, the 2020 possesses off the charts richness and tons of intensity. Blackberry jam, crème de cassis, cloves, lavender and chocolate all build in this sumptuous, full-bodied Saint-Émilion. This is beautifully done in every way. Impressive. (Antonio Galloni)

A St.-Emilion with a solid core of fruit, fresh herbs, walnuts and hazelnuts. Medium to full body with layers of tannins and a juicy finish. Chewy at the end. 75% merlot, 24% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon. From organically grown grapes. Give this three to four years to soften and come together. (James Suckling)

Deep ruby/purple-hued, the 2020 Château Grand Corbin-Despagne offers up a perfumed, exotic bouquet of red, blue, and black fruits as well as spicy oak, flowery incense, and sandalwood. Beautifully complex, medium to full-bodied, layered, and elegant on the palate, it has the vintage’s concentration and power while staying light on its feet and graceful. It’s another brilliant 2020 that will benefit from just short-term bottle age and keep for over two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)

A strong effort, the 2020 Grand Corbin-Despagne wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet blackberries, plums, bay leaf and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it’s seamless and enveloping, its vibrant core of fruit underpinned by melting tannins. This improving estate is situated on sandy soils over blue clay just across the border from Pomerol. (William Kelley)

This has the dark yet soft-edged ripeness of the vintage, with plum and boysenberry compote notes laced with melted licorice forming the core, while slightly taut alder and cedar threads lace the savory-tinged finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2029. 9,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported. (James Molesworth)

The 2020 La Fleur-Pétrus is a gorgeous, polished wine. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, blood orange and pomegranate lend tons of immediacy and primary fruit character. Suave on the palate, with exquisite length, La Fleur-Pétrus is a wine of total sensuality. In 2020, ripeness is pushed to the edge, while the new oak is a bit present. Bright acids and sweet floral notes linger on the long, beautifully delineated finish. This is a bit more extroverted than I remember en primeur, but superb just the same. (Antonio Galloni)

Alluring, with velvety plum and boysenberry reduction notes that glide through, picking up black tea, incense, graphite and warm earth along the way. Reveals a lovely tobacco echo at the tail end. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2036. 4,200 cases made, 315 cases imported. (James Molesworth)
