Where It's From
Country / Italy
Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.
Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.

The 2022 Rosé is spicy, blending crushed stone with a grapefruit and young kiwi spritz. This is round and silky in feel, gaining a more tactile edge as saline minerals settle in. The 2022 finishes incredibly fresh, leaving behind tropical melon and a gentle tug of sour citrus tension. (Eric Guido)

Blue flower and mature black skin aromas form the nose. On the light-bodied, easygoing palate, lithe tannins gently support dried cherry and spiced prune. Drink soon. (Kerin O’Keefe)

A lush white, revealing rich hints of beeswax, butterscotch and chopped nuts that accent baked pear, pineapple and persimmon fruit flavors. Fresh and focused, thanks to a firm, well-knit backbone of citrusy acidity, which also drives the long, creamy finish. Fiano. Drink now through 2030. 4,450 cases made, 360 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
Roasted hazelnuts, mixed herbs and capers fried in butter with lemon on the nose follow onto a palate that adds more citrus along with honey, sliced through with saline notes and bright acidity. (Danielle Callegari)

Brooding in the glass, the 2018 Santa Cecilia takes its time to develop its hauntingly alluring bouquet. Swirling unlocks depths of plum sauce and sage mixed with enriching notes of brown spice and, finally, a lifting hint of camphor. It boasts medium-bodied weight and the silkiest of textures, nearly glycerol in feel, as waves of ripe red and black fruits are offset by a twang of sour citrus that rings like a dinner bell amongst this sea of dark depths. Sweet tannins linger through the finale, leaving a classically dry nut only lightly structured sensation, as hints of licorice and inner rose fade. The 2018 Santa Cecilia, a varietal Nero d’Avola from Noto, is a huge success from a difficult vintage. Sometimes I struggle with a score for a wine that is atypical of the vintage, but plainly stated, the 2018 is a showstopper. (Eric Guido)
Welcome to the modern face of Sicily’s deep wine tradition. The bouquet of black plum with licorice and spice notes pulls you into this rich but beautifully balanced nero d’avola with velvety tannins that build gently through the long, polished finish. Drink or hold.

This has a concentrated nose of mango, baked nectarine, pineapple, apple crumble, granola and toasted nuts. Rich and toasty, with a full body and layers of fleshy, ripe tropical fruit. Long and buttery. Sustainable. Drink now or hold.
A toasty version for fans of the style, with chopped hazelnut, vanilla and biscuit aromas and flavors accenting a pretty range of glazed apricot and tangerine fruit, lime blossoms and spice. A medium-bodied, bright and focused white, with a lasting, well-meshed finish. Drink now through 2027. 14,750 cases made, 2,500 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
