Item#: 21631
Black cherry and sliced blood-orange aromas. Medium to full body, orange-peel undertones and a juicy finish. Clean, focused and real. Delicious all round. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. (James Suckling)
The 2021 Cerasuolo di Vittoria wafts up, more savory than sweet, with smokey earth tones and crushed rocks giving way to black raspberry. This washes across the palate with mineral-tinged red and blue berry fruits complicated by inner herbal tones. Brisk acidity maintains energy throughout as the 2021 tapers off with a salty flourish, leaving licorice and spice hints to linger. (Eric Guido)

Where It's From
Country / Italy
Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.
Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.

2018 / 750 ml.
Pretty plum and raspberry fruit flavors are accented by a fine, aromatic thread of dried thyme, smoky mineral and rosehip in this harmonious, light- to medium-bodied red. Drink now through 2024. 2,080 cases made, 105 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
As if you can smell the ashen volcanic soils that these vines grow in, the 2018 Nerello Mascalese Eruzione 1614 wafts up smoky and musky, with a complement of cherry and dried strawberry that fully completes the experience. This is soft and fleshy in feel, boasting a noticeable inner sweetness nicely balanced by brisk acids and pretty inner florals. The 2018 lacks the persistence and structure to promote long-term cellaring, but makes up for it with sheer drinkability. (Eric Guido)

2021 / 750 ml.
Pretty orange blossom with cranberry and crab apple aromas as well as watermelon. Medium body with fine and polished tannins that shows energy and length. Very fine-textured at the end. Drink now or hold. (James Suckling)
A blend of licorice and rose gives way to crushed red plums as the 2021 Etna Rosso comes to life in the glass. It’s soft and round with depths of black cherry and wild berry fruit offset by a savory suggestion of liquid stone. This tapers off structured with a primary concentration coating, and tart cranberry tones resonate. (Eric Guido)

Brooding in the glass, the 2018 Santa Cecilia takes its time to develop its hauntingly alluring bouquet. Swirling unlocks depths of plum sauce and sage mixed with enriching notes of brown spice and, finally, a lifting hint of camphor. It boasts medium-bodied weight and the silkiest of textures, nearly glycerol in feel, as waves of ripe red and black fruits are offset by a twang of sour citrus that rings like a dinner bell amongst this sea of dark depths. Sweet tannins linger through the finale, leaving a classically dry nut only lightly structured sensation, as hints of licorice and inner rose fade. The 2018 Santa Cecilia, a varietal Nero d’Avola from Noto, is a huge success from a difficult vintage. Sometimes I struggle with a score for a wine that is atypical of the vintage, but plainly stated, the 2018 is a showstopper. (Eric Guido)
Welcome to the modern face of Sicily’s deep wine tradition. The bouquet of black plum with licorice and spice notes pulls you into this rich but beautifully balanced nero d’avola with velvety tannins that build gently through the long, polished finish. Drink or hold.

Fresh, loamy earth and sun-dried cherry and raspberry fruit flavors ride the silky palate of this focused, medium- to full-bodied red. Fresh acidity and an iron-laced streak of mineral provide focus and drive through the lightly chewy finish of herbs and spice. Nero d’Avola. Drink now through 2028. 3,650 cases made, 190 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Planeta’s 100% Nero d’Avola La Segreta bottling has a delicate blend of fruit and earth on the nose, from cherries and pomegranate to tobacco leaf and nettles, with a hint of rubber sole. Cherries appear again on the palate, as do blueberries and plums before savory notes of cedar bark and roots come through on the back of tannins that are present but not intrusive.
