    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2020
The 2017 Al Passo is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Open-knit and plaint, with soft curves, the 2017 offers tons of immediacy. Cedar, tobacco, dried herbs and macerated cherry all meld together in an inviting, mid-weight Tuscan red to drink over the next decade or so.
    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Apr 2021
The Tolaini 2017 Al Passo is always an ambitious wine that takes the best of the grapes in its blend: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Each give freshness, structure and textural fiber. Al Passo opens to dark berry fruit and plum, with spice, tobacco and tilled earth. This is a well-priced wine that promises lots of pairings, especially out of a Tuscan cookbook.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021

The 2016 Primamateria, the estate’s Sangiovese/Merlot blend, is another exceptional wine in this range. Raspberry jam, spice, new leather, dried flowers and mocha lend striking aromatic nuance. The 2016 is sleek, ripe and exceptionally polished, not to mention flat out delicious.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2019

  8. Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54930

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
The wines of Donatella Cinelli Colombini are always something of a homecoming for me as I vividly remember my first sips almost 20 years ago. It is a great honor to witness their evolution over all these years. The estate’s winning card is consistency, with steady results delivered year in and year out, although the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino takes the game up a notch. This wine offers purity and brightness to a degree I don’t remember seeing in past vintages. This Brunello fully embraces the sharpness and linearity that this classic vintage will be celebrated for. Red cherry fruit and fresh plum follow to earthy tones, leather and balsam herb. This vintage counts 35,000 bottles made.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
I’m finding a depth and richness in the 2016 Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino that I haven’t witnessed from this bottling in previous vintages. The bouquet sets the stage with a mix of crushed black cherries, plums, incense and exotic brown spices. It’s silky, almost creamy in texture, finding balance through juicy acids, as purple-tinged red and black fruits flesh out, leaving tactile mineral tones under an inner air of lavender and violets. This maintains perfect poise in spite of a larger-scaled feel, tapering off to a coating of fine tannins with hints of black tea and dark chocolate.

  11. Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#53491

    JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, December 21, 2020
This is really beautiful with complex black cherry, berry, walnut and dark chocolate. Some mushroom and smoke. It’s tight and reserved with polished tannins and wonderful balance and finesse. Persistent and intense. Drink after 2025.
    VN96+96+ pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino blends richness, ripeness and refinement to create a model of total balance. At first, it’s dark, earthy and herbal; yet with time in the glass, a massive wave of black cherry, raspberry, sage and a grounding note of undergrowth comes forward. In the mouth, it coats all that it touches in silky, cool-toned textures, giving way to ripe red/black fruits complemented by spiced citrus, as nuances of lavender and tobacco form. While this feels round and pliant throughout, fine-grain tannins slowly saturate, sneaking up and reminding you of just how young the 2016 really is today. Hints of baker’s chocolate, licorice and a twang of tart blackberry resonate — wow, does it ever end?
    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
The Uccelliera 2016 Brunello di Montalcino opens to dark fruit and wild cherry with warmer tones of cured tobacco, spice and potting soil. It shows the extra density, darkness and richness that comes so beautifully to fruit grown on the sun-drenched southern side of Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the southern half of the appellation. What Uccelliera delivers so carefully, vintage after vintage, is a truly exceptional sense of mouthfeel with textural richness and lingering creaminess. It is also one of the wines that consistently shows a sense of place. This is a touchstone estate for this specific Montalcino microclimate. Production is 29,000 bottles.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 3, 2021
Burly tannins put a grip on the black cherry, black currant, plum, earth and tobacco flavors in this dense version, yet it’s also vibrant, building to a lingering finish. All the components are in the right place, so this should come together nicely over time. Best from 2024 through 2045. 2,000 cases made, 300 cases imported.
    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - March 4, 2021
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is sourced from three vineyard sites in Castelnuovo dell’Abate and spent three years in French and Slavonian oak of various sizes. It offers very pretty, soft floral aromatics of violet, black raspberry, and sweet baking spice. Structurally, the palate is plush and round on the mid-palate, with soft tannins and generous warmth, but without excessive weight. Enjoy over the next 15 or more years.

  12. Celestino Pecci Brunello di Montalcino

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#53002

    JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, December 21, 2020
This is an extremely refined, focused young Brunello with subtle, enticing aromas of flowers and black cherries that follow through to a medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and a finish that lasts for minutes. Best I have ever had from here. A young Brunello that already shows so much class now, but better in two or three years. Better after 2022 and beyond.
    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2020
This offers aromas of ripe black-skinned berry, scorched earth and leather. The dense palate presents ripe black cherry, tobacco and star anise alongside firm chewy tannins. Drink 2022–2030.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2020
The 2015 Celestino Pecci Brunello di Montalcino shows the warmth of the vintage through its first wave of dark, ripe black cherry, yet balances it well with more time in the glass, adding savory herbs, stone dust and dried roses. On the palate, velvety textures usher in a mix of red berries, minerals and savory spice, supported by juicy acids, as pretty inner florals amass toward the close. The finish is long and surprisingly structured, as grippy tannins clench the senses, yet there’s plenty of primary fruit to maintain balance.

  13. Piancornello Brunello di Montalcino

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#53001

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Oct 2020
Showing a robust and beautifully saturated appearance, the Piancornello 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers that classic Brunello bouquet that introduces earthy elements of leather and potting soil with dark plummy fruit. Those sweet and savory sides are expertly folded into each other, and the rich, concentrated fruit of the vintage helps to smooth out those flavors, adding overall intensity along the way. This is a terrific expression that faithfully reflects the beauty of Brunello. It is a lovely wine.
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, September 20, 2020
There’s a cascade of dried florals here, ranging from rose petals to lilacs; the glazed strawberries and cherries are equally intense. So much power and ripeness to the full-bodied palate, but there’s a savory, stony flavor and texture that permeates the whole package. Long on the finish. Drink from 2024.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2020
The nose is intense with spiced cherry, giving way to sweet herbal and floral tones, as hints of cedar and leather add further depth. On the palate, soft textures are contrasted by ripe red fruits, with vibrant acids adding lift, as sweet inner herbal and floral tones develop. The finish is medium in length and spicy, resonating on ripe fruit but also remaining fresh and energetic. This is already very easy to like and should be quite enjoyable over the medium term.

  15. Donna Laura Ali

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#44410

    VN8888 pts. - Vinous - May 2020
The 2019 Donna Laura Ali takes some time to open up in the glass, as hints of young strawberry and savory herbs evolve to show sweet tea leaves and florals. On the palate, soft textures give way to ripe orchard fruits with a twang of zesty acids and minerals. The finish is long, gaining energy through residual acids with notes of sweet melon lingering throughout.
    JS8888 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, July 21, 2020
Plum and berry character with some orange-peel undertones. Medium body. Easy finish. Drink now.
    SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2021
There’s good grip to this red, whose cherry, earth and wild herb flavors stand up to it. A tad dry on the finish, but this should work well with salume and tomato sauces. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now. 38,000 cases made, 18,000 cases imported.
