Critical Acclaim

RP90+ Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 19th Dec 2019

"Tasted against the 2016 and 2017, Guigal’s 2018 Crozes Hermitage reveals another level of ripeness and plushness. It’s full-bodied, maybe even a little jammy (not a problem at this youthful stage of its evolution), without being heavy or overdone." (90–92 pts.)

SP91 Wine Spectator Dec 15, 2021

"A fresh floral note liberally gilds a core of bitter cherry and plum fruit flavors while a streak of white pepper adds energy throughout. Dusty finish has charm. Drink now through 2027. 32,000 cases made, 3,000 cases imported." (91 pts.)

JD89+ Jeb Dunnuck 12/12/2019

"I loved the 2018 Crozes-Hermitage, which is similar to the 2017 yet offers a touch more purity of fruit. Blackberries, black raspberries, smoked game, and earth all emerge from this medium to full-bodied effort that’s going to shine right out of the gate. (Jeb Dunnuck)" (89–92 pts.)

VN92 Vinous Dec 2022

"Saturated ruby. Ripe, smoke-accented dark fruit, olive paste and cracked pepper qualities on the nose. Broad and supple in texture, offering vaguely jammy blackberry and kirsch flavors and a hint of candied flowers. Finished pliant and long, with repeating olive and pepper notes and round, even tannins. Weightier than usual for this bottling, and more like its Saint-Joseph sibling this vintage. (Josh Raynolds)" (92 pts.)

Rhone

France's picturesque Rhone Valley produces wines just as beautiful as its landscapes. Located in Southern France, the Rhone is divided into two distinct sub-regions, the Northern Rhone and Southern Rhone. In the Northern Rhone, you'll find red wines produced predominantly with the Syrah grape, which oftentimes take a few years to mature before reaching their peak. Meanwhile, there are a wide array of red grapes used to produce wines in the Southern Rhone, including Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre (which together produce a blend known as GSM). The most famous red wine coming out of the Southern Rhone is the red blend, Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.
