Critical Acclaim
VN91Vinous Nov 2015
"Brilliant bright ruby. Ripe cherry, raspberry preserves and candied flowers on the highly perfumed nose and palate. Boasts excellent depth and energy, with a spine of juicy acidity adding focus and lift. This powerful yet lithe wine finishes with strong punch; supple tannins sneak in late to contribute shape and grip." (91 pts.)
The dry mountainous climate of Rioja in north-central Spain produces some tantalizing wines. Tempranillo and Garnacha are the dominant red wine grapes in the region, and a majority of wines sped some time in oak casks. The wines here are known not only for their tremendous quality, but also their incredible value compared with similar quality wines from other parts of the world.
The picturesque countryside of Spain is littered with vineyards large and small, and offers up some of the best value available on the wine market today. You can consistently fine critically-acclaimed Spanish wines selling for less than their counterparts from other wine-producing countries. The Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions are most famous, and there's nowhere else in the world where you'll find as many world-class Tempranillos.
JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, July 26, 2019 Cubillo spends three years in barrique and then in larger cask to await bottling, which happens two years before the expected release. This is very fresh on the nose with quite fresh, ripe blackberries and dark cherries, mahogany and dry, woody spices. The palate is very powerful, juicy and fresh with clear black cherries and plums in abundance. So fresh, fleshy and deep. The freshness is impressive. Long, shell-like tannins. Drink or hold.RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Jun 2019 It’s not easy to follow a 2010, but the 2011 Viña Cubillo Tinto Crianza improves with time in the glass, showing much better than expected. 2011 was a warmer year than the 2010, and the wine is a little riper but has great balance and very good harmony. It’s a noteworthy red for the price asked. 90,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2017.
