When it comes to wine, no other grape can challenge Zinfandel for the title of "America's Grape." That's not to say it's the most planted or popular wine grape in the United States, but it's just about the only grape that American's can claim for themselves. And Zinfandel is a versatile grape at that.
Largely popularized by the explosion of White Zinfandel (a blush wine) onto the wine scene in the 1980's, Zinfandel is also used to make bold-flavored red wines that pair perfectly with another American pastime, barbecue. Nearly all Zinfandel wines come from California, including the best white zinfandel wines in the world.

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022 The NV OVR Lot 73 is composed mainly of Zinfandel with smaller portions of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignan and Barbera. Medium ruby, it offers intense red cherry, blood orange and apricot perfume with accents of rooibos tea leaves, red licorice, saline, lilac and loads of spicy nuances. The medium-bodied palate is light on its feet with soft tannins, bursts of refreshing acidity and detailed amaro accents on the long finish. This is so easy to drink! (Erin Brooks)JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, October 5, 2022 Lovely aromas of pitted red cherries, black cherries, moss and walnut. Medium-to full-bodied with gentle tannins. Nice intensity with lovely length. Juicy, with so much herbal complexity and black fruit. Predominantly zinfandel, with syrah, petite sirah, grenache, barbera, carignan. Drink now.
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021 The 2019 Zinfandel Old Vine is gorgeous. Bright acids and floral overtones perk up the red berry fruit in a Zinfandel that delivers the goods, and plenty more. Bright and beautifully layered, the 2019 hits all the right notes. Then again, it is a blend of stellar sites, including Bedrock, Nervo, Sodini, Evangelho, Katushas’, Teldeschi, Pagani Ranch and Old Hill. Because of the COVID pandemic and uncertain short-term economic outlook, the 2019 includes quite a bit of wine that in more normal times would he bottled in the vineyard designates. Stated simply: buy as much as you can.SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2021 This Zin packs in a lot of structure and personality, with vibrant black cherry, smoky garrigue and green peppercorn notes that build toward broad-shouldered tannins. Drink now through 2029. 4,000 cases made.JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/22/2021 The 2019 Zinfandel Old Vine offers a more savory, darker fruited, spicy style and has loads of character. Blackberries, plums, cedary incense, flowers, and loamy soil all define the nose, and it has medium-bodied density and depth, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. (Jeb Dunnuck)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Feb 2017 Deep garnet in color, the 2014 Zinfandel Fighting Brothers offers an abundance of black fruit preserves and blueberry pie notes plus underlying spice cake, incense and chocolate box hints. The richly fruited, full-bodied palate is packed with dried berries and spice layers, framed by velvety tannins and much needed freshness, which contributes a lively lift to the weighty finish.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021 Strong aromas and flavors of charred wood and black pepper override the jammy fruit notes in this full-bodied, moderately tannic wine. It is highly stylized with toasted oak elements.
VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2020 Zinfandel Juvenile is bright, floral and nicely lifted, all of which make it a charming wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, lavender and sweet spice give this mid-weight, young-vines Zinfandel tons of sheer appeal, although there is some edginess in the tannin. Production is down by about 50%. (Antonio Galloni)
WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021 Strong oak aromas of charred wood and cloves dominate this deep-colored, tannic and very extracted wine. It’s bold, tannic and spicy.
