View more wines from Spain

The picturesque countryside of Spain is littered with vineyards large and small, and offers up some of the best value available on the wine market today. You can consistently fine critically-acclaimed Spanish wines selling for less than their counterparts from other wine-producing countries. The Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions are most famous, and there's nowhere else in the world where you'll find as many world-class Tempranillos.

SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2013
Delivers a caressing feel, with caramel, prune, toffee and pecan notes. Well-embedded acidity carries the finish and adds life. Ever so slightly fluid in the end, presenting a lingering hint of coffee.
RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2014
The NV Contrabandista is a blend of the style called medium dry that is usually a very commercial category of cheap sherries. It is an off-dry blend of Palomino produced in an Amontillado way (biological + oxidative aging) and around 5% Pedro Ximénez with 30 grams of residual sugar which averages 18 years of age. It’s has a mahogany color, with a bright amber border with aromas of dates and raisins that give a sapid, bittersweet sensation in a medium-bodied palate of moderate sweetness. This is easy to drink. (Luis Gutiérrez)
SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2008
Dark in color and off-dry, displaying caramel, milk chocolate, fig paste and smoke notes. Well balanced. An easy style to appreciate. Drink now. 100 cases imported.

WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/15/2009
Attractive caramel, apricot and peach aromas drive straight to a pure, creamy palate of cinnamon apple, mocha, coffee and chocolate. It’s quite smooth and balanced, and very long on the finish. Avoids all the pitfalls of sweet Sherry by maintaining its balance and mouthfeel.
WS8989 pts. - Wine & Spirits - October 1, 2013
This is rich, but its lively acidity gives the caramel and nut flavors grace and precision. Serve it chilled, with — or in place of — a nut tart.
SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2006
The intensity of this Sherry comes from the alcohol. Roasted walnut, caramel and molasses are the flavors. Moderate length. Drink now.

Wine Spectator Top 100 SelectionWine Spectator Top 100 selection - 2018 | #37
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2018
A bright, high-pitched style, showing tangy quinine and chamomile notes laced with talc and fleur de sel flavors. Very dry, brisk, stony-edged finish. An absolute delight. Drink now. 62,000 cases made.
WS9292 pts. - Wine & Spirits - April 1, 2005
Consistently one of the finest traditional manzanillas you’ll ever taste, La Gitana might as well be the Webster’s entry for the category; pale straw color, salty seaside freshness and a dry, tangy, yet rich flavor. And that flavor lingers after each sip, too, like sea spray.
WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/15/2004
The benchmark among fino-style Sherries is La Gitana. Simply put, it’s a classic. Pour yourself a copita of this beauty and sip it while munching some olives, peanuts or pistachios. Shazzam! You’re transported to a whitewashed village in Andalusia. Aromas of mushroom and yeast are just as they should be. And deep within are subtle flavors of marzipan and citrus. The long, salty, bone-dry finish cleanses the palate and primes your appetite for better things to come.
RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Aug 2013
The NV Manzanilla La Gitana is a fresh Manzanilla aged under flor for five years of pale gold color, has some bruised apple notes on the nose, typical of younger wines. It develops some citric and chalky notes with time and air. The palate is quite soft, medium-bodied, with a bitter touch in the end. 1,200,000 bottles are filled yearly. Drink 2013–2014.
