  9. Pendulum Cabernet Sauvignon

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#42733

    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2020
Sleek, yet shows simmering potency in the background. Expressive blackberry, mocha and cinnamon flavors build structure toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2026. 9,716 cases made.
    JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, June 1, 2020
Shows blackberry, chocolate and walnut character, as well as hints of redwood and iron. Medium body, firm and lightly chewy tannins and a soft finish. Drink now.
    WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2020
Offering impressive complexity for the price, this is a lean cabernet. With its minty top note, peppery pyrazines and spritz of blueberry flavor, it feels like a classic cabernet from a bygone era. Buy it by the case to decant for steak.

  13. Canvasback Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#44541

    WS9393 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/20
Duckhorn’s estate at the higher elevations of Red Mountain, planted in 2013, is becoming a precocious fruit source. This 2017 offers a lot of wine for the price, with intriguing tension between its savory elements — tobacco leaf, sun-dried tomato skin, cedar frond, mocha — and firm dark-plum fruit. It’s a weighty wine, with formidable tannins, but it’s delivered wholly on the rails, detailed and on point for steak.
    JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/15/2020
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 2% Mourvedre, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Syrah) sports a deep purple color to go with lots of smoked black fruits, chocolate, and classic Red Mountain minerality. Medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, and balanced, with ripe tannins, it’s another impressive wine from this team that will evolve for 10–12 years, if not longer.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Oct 2020
The 2017 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon has a ripe nose and is well put together with aromas of black cherries, redcurrant and dark plum with a delicate minerality, soft tobacco notes and red flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is clean and correct with a structured mid-palate that delivers pleasure but decreases in amplitude over the finish. It’s good but not as complex or as voluminous as their other bottlings in the range but delivers at a great price.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020
Dark red. Aromas of strawberry, plum and spices, complicated by graphite minerality and crushed herbs. Supple, fine-grained wine with a subtle sweetness and good vinosity to its plum, spice and cocoa powder flavors. Offers very good breadth and palate coverage without any undue weight. Finishes with an earthy complexity, firm fine-grained tannins and sneaky persistence. Not yet especially nuanced but very well done, showing good inner-mouth energy and lift. No easy sweetness here but plenty ripe.
