Joseph Cattin Pinot Blanc 2021 / 750 ml.

An intense aroma of bitter orange gives this wine an epicurean allure. Indeed, this would be a great food wine. It’s bracing in its acidity, with a spritely mouthfeel and spare notes of citrus and salt. It’s practically screaming for fish tacos, ready to act as both condiment and palate cleanser between bites. (Layla Schlack)

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

Shy aromas of green-apple candy are playful but restrained on the nose of this wine. The palate follows suit, hinting at notes of Granny Smith, blanched almonds and Emmental. Light bodied and refreshingly bright, the wine is artfully balanced and nuanced. Despite the whisper-soft mouthfeel, it’s complex in flavor. A slight alcohol burn on the finish diminishes as the wine opens up. (Layla Schlack)

Attractive aromas of caramelized pear and summer meadows are married to lively citrusy acidity on the medium-bodied palate. Very refreshing and animating finish. Everything fits neatly. A cuvee of 80% auxerrois and 20% pinot blanc. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap. (Stuart Pigott)

A lithe wine, with elderflower, crisp pear and green plum notes that are lively and snappy on the palate, plus briny, saline acidity underscored by honeyed richness and juicy lemon. Drink now. 8,000 cases made, 5,600 cases imported. (Kristen Bieler)

Aromas of pineapple and lemon have a gummy candy quality, equal parts serious tang and playful confectionery. Lemon zest and Alpine cheese dominate the palate, which is frothy and cracking with acidity. A bit of salinity ensures this will pair beautifully with pastas and shellfish. (Layla Schlack)

A subtle, light-bodied crémant, with hints of yellow apple, pear, candied lemon peel, wax and smoke, followed by a fresh, floral finish. Drink now. 10,000 cases made, 300 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
