  7. Amici Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#54028

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021
Perfumed cabernet with aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberries, thyme, violets, crushed stones and cloves. Full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins. Structured and concentrated. Better after 2023.
    RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Mar 2021
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with loads of blueberry preserves and stewed black plums notes on the nose with faint suggestions of redcurrant jelly and rose hip tea plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied and jam-packed with ripe black and blue fruit, it has a soft texture and perfumed finish. 10,000 cases are due to be made. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is polished, nuanced and so delicious. Silky and floral, with vibrant red-toned fruit, the Napa Valley Cabernet delivers the goods. It is a positively stellar wine from Amici. I loved it. (Antonio Galloni)
    JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/10/2022
Made with the goal of great Napa Cabernet at $50 bucks, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley succeeds admirably, offering gorgeous cassis, violet, and chocolaty aromatics as well as medium to full-bodied richness, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, and silky tannins. It competes with wines at three times the cost. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 75% new barrels. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  11. Pol Roger Brut Réserve Champagne

    NV / 750 ml. | Item#13953

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 3rd Mar 2016
Straw yellow and with a golden hue in color, the Pol Roger NV Réserve Brut displays a brilliant, perfectly ripe but also fresh, highly elegant and refined fruit aroma on the nose; think of cooked pip fruits like pears and apples, but also quince-confiture and yellow stone fruits, such as apricots and peaches intermixed with vanilla, brioche (pain aux raisins), some nutty flavors and also some white floral notes. On the palate, this medium-bodied Brut is as round (if not pretty sweet) and fruit-driven as it is delicate, pure and very elegant. The mousse is deliciously fine and leads this charming and perfectly balanced fizz to a long, aromatic, stunningly dry and slightly mineral, impressively long finish. This is extremely well done Champagne from equal parts of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay sourced in 30 different crus. This Réserve includes 25% of reserve wines and was dosed with nine grams per liter.
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2018
A well-cut Champagne, with a zesty mousse, this offers a harmonious mix of crème de cassis, Honeycrisp apple, candied ginger and toasty notes, offering a subtle, smoke- and spice-tinged finish. Drink now through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 110,000 cases made, 12,000 cases imported.
    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2016
This is a well-balanced, ripe wine in the producer’s rich house style. A brighter, more mineral crispness and acidity also come through strongly in this bottling. The aftertaste brings together a mineral texture and full yellow and apple fruits. Drink now.
    WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 31, 2009
Bright white chalk and yellow fruit scents contrast darker tones of root vegetables and earth. This is clean and dry, with minerality that lasts. The acidity makes it a refreshing match for tempura.

  12. Le Volte dell’Ornellaia

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#48972

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, August 9, 2022
Attractive aromas of blue fruit with slate and black-licorice character. It’s full-bodied with juicy fruit and an orange-peel undertone. Wet earth, some fresh sage and rosemary, too. I like the Mediterranean flavors in this vintage. Drink or hold.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th May 2022
A blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Ornellaia 2020 Le Volte dell’Ornellaia shows medium darkness and texture followed by a very primary and fruit-forward bouquet. There is a generous display of cherry, cassis and wild plum. On second nose, this easy and straightforward Tuscan blend reveals hints of spice, cardamon and polished river stone. In a hot vintage like this, the wine comes together nicely and rather effortlessly. (Monica Larner)
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2022
This balanced red is laced with black cherry, blackberry, violet and spice flavors. Concentrated and juicy, leaving a lining of dusty tannins on the long finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2028. 12,500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/8/2022
The 2020 Le Volte Dell’Ornellaia is a juicy, forward blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese that’s aged in a mix of concrete and oak. It’s one heck of a delicious bistro wine and is loaded with ripe redcurrants, strawberry, tobacco, and cedary herb aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, this plump, round, mouth-filling beauty is ideal for near-term drinking. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  14. Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#38659

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 4, 2022
This has intense spice and and floral character, with violets, bell peppers, morello cherries, cloves and tomato leaves on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with sleek tannins. Dense and compact palate. Some walnut notes at the end. Try after 2023.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Feb 2023
Representing a big production of 280,000 bottles, the Tenuta di Nozzole 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Nozzole hits the mark. The wine’s attractiveness is enhanced by its value price tag as well as its genuine aromas of dark fruit, earth and lavender bud. It reveals a mid-weight texture and plenty of nice freshness. Sure, the flavor profile is pretty standard for the appellation, but it’s a sure bet with grilled meat or pasta. (Monica Larner)

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#29610

    JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 27, 2021
Plums, Asian spices, tobacco, and lead pencil notes emerge from the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru, which hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a beautifully polished, elegant texture, and outstanding length. This is another gorgeous 2018 displaying notable purity, balance, and length as well as richness. It can be drunk any time over the coming 15+ years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is fabulous. A gorgeous, entry-level offering, the Cru Cabernet opens with bright, captivating aromatics. Medium in body, fresh and juicy, the 2018 is an absolute delight to taste today. Black cherry, mocha, licorice and chocolate are all laced together in this hugely appealing Cabernet from Vineyard 29. Drink it over the next handful of years.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Nov 2020
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru offers up seductive notes of warm cassis, plum preserves and blueberry compote with hints of chocolate mint and candied violets with a touch of tapenade. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, with plenty of crunchy black fruits and a grainy texture, finishing with an herbal lift.
