Critical Acclaim

JS92 JamesSuckling.com Sunday, May 31, 2015

"A malbec with a firmness and brightness that focuses the fruit, plus light flower petal character. Full body, firm tannins. This is from vineyards in Altamira and Vista Flores. Drink now." (92 pts.)

RP91 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 27th Aug 2015

"The 2013 Malbec Q is sourced from La Consulta (Altamira) and Vista Flores. This wine has changed since 2010; now only 30% to 50% of the wine is oaked and the rest is matured in cement vats. The oak is imperceptible, and there are plenty of aromas of violets and blueberries with some aromatic herbs, all fruit. What Sebastian Zuccardi looks for is to have some herbal/countryside aromas and a lively palate with good acidity, which is what you find here. This is really tasty, with a fine, chalky tannin (from Altamira?) and just plain great. 120,000 bottles produced." (91 pts.)

SP88 Wine Spectator Jul 31, 2015

"Open-textured, with white pepper notes to the dried berry and cherry flavors. Focused acidity drives the supple, savory finish. Drink now through 2018. 10,000 cases made." (88 pts.)

VN88 Vinous Feb 2015

"Bright saturated ruby. Slightly roasted aromas of dark berries, black plum, dark chocolate, mocha and sexy oak. Round, fat and sweet, with a hint of alcoholic warmth giving the blackberry, plum and chocolatey oak flavors a slightly aggressive quality. Finishes firm, with slightly dry tannins and lingering notes of licorice and menthol." (88 pts.)

WE88 Wine Enthusiast 2/1/2016

"Jammy blueberry and boysenberry aromas include graphite and ink notes. This feels jammy to the point of being sluggish and heavy. Syrupy but not sweet flavors of herbal black fruits finish with a lasting gamy note." (88 pts.)

Argentina took the wine world spotlight in the late 20th century with its plush, smooth Malbec. While the popular red grape still reigns supreme, Argentine wineries are increasingly putting forth excellent examples of multiple varietals, all at the extraordinary bargains that make this region so accessible.

Now the fifth largest wine-producing nation in the world, Argentina enjoys high-altitude and low-humidity vineyard sites, comparatively unencumbered by insects and disease. Argentina’s unique terroir has captured the interest of such internationally celebrated winemakers as Paul Hobbs and Michel Rolland, both of whom have projects in the country.
